The cartoon creator could have avoided any racist connotation whatsoever by labelling the chimpanzee as "Stimulus Bill," rather than implying that he was the writer of the bill. It would make sense that the "Bill the Chimp" would have to be killed after mauling the public.

Of course, even that might not have stopped the likes of Al Sharpton from making a needless controversy out of it.

It’s abundantly obvious that only Liberals think they have the right to be offended. As a Jew, I’m offended that government camps are to be built along with “Zero’s civilian army. The implication that I get is that Nazi Germany has risen from the pages of history and has been revived by today’s American Liberals. Where do Jews that are offended voice our complaints and sensitivities?

I haven't looked at the thread since there were only a few comments, so I don't know what the sentiment is here; but my opinion is that the cartoon is worse than bad taste. If I owned the paper, neither the cartoonist nor the editor responsible for the final layout of the page would have jobs tomorrow.

That is true, and it’s a good idea. However, the cartoonist, bless his heart, was guilty of giving the public the benefit of the doubt regarding reader comprehension and recognizing the obvious.
