A New York Post cartoon that appears to link President Obama to a violent chimpanzee drew criticism Wednesday on media Web sites and from civil rights activist the Rev. Al Sharpton.
The cartoon in Wednesday's Post by Sean Delonas shows a dead chimp and two police officers, one with a smoking gun. The caption reads, They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.''
The cartoon refers to Travis the chimp, who was shot to death by police in Stamford, Conn. on Monday after it mauled a friend of its owner.
It links the chimp to Obama, who signed his administration's economic stimulus plan on Tuesday.
At its most benign, the cartoon suggests that the stimulus bill was so bad, monkeys may as well have written it,'' columnist Sam Stein wrote in the liberal-leaning Huffington Post. Most provocatively, it compares the president to a rabid chimp. Either way, the incorporation of violence and (on a darker level) race into politics is bound to be controversial.''

It’s abundantly obvious that only Liberals think they have the right to be offended. As a Jew, I’m offended that government camps are to be built along with “Zero’s civilian army. The implication that I get is that Nazi Germany has risen from the pages of history and has been revived by today’s American Liberals. Where do Jews that are offended voice our complaints and sensitivities?
By the way, this same animal DID cause trouble in 2003.
The “crazy chimp lady” who owned him, who is NOT a professional wild animal trainer, should have gotten rid of the animal THEN.

Not complaining about any comparisons, real or imagined nor do I really care whether Obama looks more like a chimpanzee than George Bush. I explained my view in post 45 and to elaborate...
"I'd say this is a sign of the dawning of an age of sweetness an delight!"
To use somebody's horrible, personal tragedy to make a political statement is sick and twisted. Imagine that was your mom. Imagine that was your sister getting attacked. Imagine that monkey was your dog. And now some low-life is making light of your personal tragedy to make a political statement in a political cartoon.
Listen to that lady's voice in that 9-1-1 tape and tell me you'd be fine with the cartoon even if, God help you, it was YOUR voice on that tape. And if that thought never crossed your mind when you first saw that cartoon, you are holding on to the political joystick a little too tight, pal.
Well said.
Might I suggest a little more wine and Xanax before you continue your delusional rants? Just a suggestion.
Which makes the use of this tragedy for political gain even more disgusting and twisted. Thanks for putting emphasis where emphasis is needed.
Cept obamma lamma looks eczactly like that sock monkey.
Maybe you should relax and realize that “life happens” and if you don’t laugh, go with the flow and take some punches, you are going to blow a valve well before your time.
Just in case you were wondering, this was a CARTOON and almost every single cartoon is based at least in part on some truth - good or bad.
You are too wrapped up in this new PC world!
Might I suggest you kiss my big ol' butt? Of course that's... just a suggestion.
Where were all the whiners when No. 43 was being called “Chimpy McBushitler?”
"You are too wrapped up in this new PC world!"
You obviously don't know me... noob.
It seems that history had another country with a National Socialism problem ~ we’ll have a revolution before we let our charismatic demagogue take us down that road!
Be Ever Vigilant!
Molon Labe!
Whatever.
Yes, the lady who owned him was NOT a professional wild animal trainer, but the chimp had been supervised by a trainer, apparently up until the day of the attack - at least according to what I’ve heard. I believe that the chimp had been well enough behaved to perform in filmed commercials as well, and was known to many in the community.
Or, at least, that’s how the MSM portrayed him.
It is unclear to me why you are so overly sensitive to the plight of the owner of this vicious wild animal, and why it bothers you so much that the recent death of the vicious wild animal might be used in a political cartoon. Topical tragedies have been used in political cartoons since.... well, since political cartoons were invented.
Did the MSM happen to mention this animals little all-day rampage (albeit nowhere near as violent as this latest outburst) back in 2003?
Yep, they portrayed President Bush as a chimp endlessly without shame. But, to portray a black man that way would cause a ‘PC’ uproar.
I have avoided the ‘monkey’ portrayal in my graphics even if his “actions” deem it appropriate.
