He also didn’t allow any photo ops that she could use. The meeting was “private” so no photos! LMAS!!

As I pointed out in another thread, people forget the Pope is a head of state and Pelosi is number 3 in the US. He showed the US respect by meeting with one of its leaders. However, he deprived her of the photo-op, gave her a brief meeting only, and then told her where she was wrong.

**His Holiness took the opportunity to speak of the requirements of the natural moral law and the Church’s consistent teaching on the dignity of human life from conception until natural death, which enjoin all Catholics, and especially legislators, jurists, and those responsible for the common good of society, to work in cooperation with all men and women of good will in creating a just system of laws capable of protecting human life at all stages of development.”**

Hooray for Pope Benedict!

Sounds like the Pope gave her a talking to, as I had hoped. I don’t think it was wrong for him to meet with her, as it gives her an opportunity to repent and change her ways. I’m not holding my breath, but stranger things have happened. The language in the press release makes me think it was a “come to Jesus meeting”.

So who do I trust to be telling the truth here.... Nancy Pelosi or the Pope?....

I’ll have to think about that one for a minute...

I’m gonna have to go with the Pope.

Now, all of the Cardinals and Bishops and Priest have to get on the same doctrinal disertation as the the Pope!!

Especially Cardinals Mahoney, O’Malley et al who have not taken no stand or a very tepid stand against the Pro Abortion Catholic Politicians in the USA.

Many of these Cardinals and Bishops want to be liked and be able to travel in the same elite Groups as these Pro Abortion Catholic Politicians.

We need more Bishops like Bishop Martino.

In our conversation, I had the opportunity to praise the Church’s leadership in fighting poverty, hunger, and global warming...

I know a lot of pro-Obama "Catholics" who spout the same stupid line. They like Obama because he is better on the "social justice" issues like poverty and ecology. They conveniently forget all about the abortion business.

It is nice to see the Pope giving this particular argument a hard slap-down.

just this phrase “Following the General Audience, the Holy Father briefly greeted Mrs. Nancy Pelosi,” made it quite clear who was in charge. Pelosi goes down, Pelosi goes down.

LOL! Yeah, HER statement did sound like her family was granted some special private meeting with Pope Benedict, apart from his normal schedule.

Oh, it makes PERFECT sense. She can’t claim she can ‘nuance’ the issue of abortion, because she’s gotten the word from the Pope himself, speaking in his TEACHING mode.

So, what is San Fran Nan going to say about this meeting the next time she steps in front of a camera to defend “choice”? That the Pope is just wrong?

Pelosi probably expected the Vatican to issue some mealy-mouthed, go-along/get-along statement about a cordial meeting with the Speaker of the US House of Representatives. Clearly she did not have an accurate measure of Pope Benedict.

Her own fault, of course. The Pope has been consistent throughout.
