Alert Bill Press and the other liberals who want to re-institute the "Fairness Doctrine." The free market continues to be at work weeding out shows that most folks don't want to listen to. The latest casualty is Nova M radio which syndicated such shows as Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy. The reports are now coming in fast and furious about the demise of Nova M so here is the latest from Brian Maloney of The Radio Equalizer:
Libtalk network Nova M Radio has been shut down, according to the attorney for Randi Rhodes, Robert V Gaulin of New York. This also brings Mike Malloy's syndicated program to an abrupt end as well, at least for now (update below: Malloy's camp is denying this will affect his show, All Access reports a new firm may assume this role).

PING!
The Fairness Doctrine. A sure way to lose money.
Yo, PJ!
Is there a certain “high profile” executive on the Board of Nova M? Someone who might be married to a Michigan congresscritter that likes the Fairness Doctrine?
I’m not sure. He may be tied to it in other ways...consultant, maybe?
I hope she’s gone for good....she’s such a pig.
The market is the true ‘fairness doctrine’....
But bad ideas deserve to be bailed out don’t they? /sarcasm
If Rhodes is MIA, do not, repeat, do not send search party.
EOM
FYI. A national APB out on Randi Rhodes.
I listened once or twice to Mike Malloy. Wow, great radio, bushwarcrimes, cheneycriminal, illegalwarhalliburton, sonsof bi**hes, bushwarcrimes, hallicheney, illegalIraq, lookwherethese ba**ardslefttheeconomy, illegalbushcheney, on and on and on. A drone.
Why?
Who is it that wants to find her?
Oh, yeah, probably her mom.
In Boston, lousy ratings killed off progressive talk that was running on two stations; two years later, a group that wanted it back PAID to air it on a sports talk station. After a month and a half, both shows suddenly disappeared (ran out of money?); now, one is back and the other returns in April. Meanwhile, one post on the Save Progressive Radio Boston yahoo group is reproduced below.
(WRKO is the leading all-talk station in town with Rush,
Howie Carr, Savage, Jerry Doyle, and Ingraham. Carr won
his afternoon drive slot last ratings period. The “Avi
Nelson” he refers to below is a voice from the past,
an agnostic Republican (who was profiled years ago
along with the late Jerry Williams in the book “Talk
Radio And The American Dream”)

Dear Mr. Field:
Avi Nelson on WRKO talked about A Rod and steroids today. With a new president in office making a momentus signing Avi Nelson decides to turn the alleged “talk station”
into “The Balk Station”. I switched to WBZ, WGBH 89.7 with the BBC news, 90.9 WBUR,
any place to get some chatter on politics. The Republicans are like a ship on the water spinning in circles, so WRKO has to reflect its party of choice. The joke is on you as the listeners tune out.
With WEEI 850 AM as well as ESPN 890 and 1510 AM talking sports - 1510 also talking about A Rod - what was the point?
Avi Nelson’s bias is extreme right. He is not a “Libertarian”, in fact, he is more Pat Robertson than David Brudnoy.
The lack of balance on WRKO is blatant...and boring.
Ed Schultz...Randi Rhodes Show ...Rachel Maddow...there are lots of great hosts who can get you better numbers than...Avi Nelson.
The Balk Station is such a bore.
Sincerely,
Joe Viglione
Mike’s an extreme foaming at the mouth moonbat. last I heard him (recently), he was going off an how all registered Republicans were terrorists and should be arrested and shot.
This is 0bama’s base.
I’ll second that. I live in S. Florida - where one station, with a solid conservative line-up, slotted her from 3-6 pm, immediately following Rush. I always wanted to see the cliff off which their audience ratings fell, right at 3:06 or 3:08 pm, when the local news insert ended and the listener got a load of perhaps 3 minutes of Rhodes. I mean, her stupidity, her illogic, her foolish acceptance of whacked out left arguments, it was just painful. I am capable of listening to people I do not agree with (in fact some I am 180 degrees out of phase with, but will listen if only they can just form their arguments intelligently and marshal some facts.) She was indefensibly moronic, shallow, not in the least bit entertaining.
Another ratings measure I’d like to see is the number of web connections to WJNO (1290)’s website that dropped immediately after Rush was off at 3:00 pm. Plotted graphically, it had to be a high plateau, with precipitous drop to zero.
To Ms. Rhodes, Adios and don’t come back! Please!
Is she drinking again....poor Randi. sarc/
Obama 1260 South! CYA!
I would find her on the dial when on business trips occasionally. I tried listening a couple of times but she was just WAY too juvenile and disrespectful. After a couple of times, I learned to just change the channel in the rental car de-jur when I heard her voice.
So true. I mean, even assuming one agreed with him completely, there was no engagement, no creativity, no mentality implied. No logic, no reason, only this endless bi**chstream of griping and blame, with no proposals to fix anything and the implication that we could elect a cigar store Indian and it would be better than Bush just because it wouldn’t be Bush. I don’t understand why anyone who owned those views would listen...just to hear their own views parrotted and repeated over and over, and maybe the ratings tell exactly that tale. Really, it was like listening to a raving drunk cussing out everything in sight, except semi-articulately.
As I understand it, they replaced Randi “for now” with Hannity.
