Border crossings to Mexico closed by protests

Largest display of discontent against the army's crackdown on drug cartels

Protesters block a main avenue during a demonstration against the Mexican army in Monterrey, northern Mexico, on Tuesday. The army has blamed protests on drug cartels targeted by the government. Monterrey is not on the border but is southwest of Nuevo Laredo.

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico - Hundreds of people blocked bridges to the United States in three border cities Tuesday, demanding the army leave in another challenge for the Mexican government as it struggles to quell escalating drug violence.

The protests in Ciudad Juarez blocked traffic for about two hours across three bridges connecting the city to El Paso, Texas. Similar protests broke out on bridges in the border cities of Nuevo Laredo and Reynosa. Demonstrators blocked city hall and a main avenue in the northern industrial city of Monterrey and roads in the Gulf state of Veracruz.

It was the largest display of discontent against the army's role in an anti-drug crackdown since President Felipe Calderon began

So the Mejicanos are protesting in favor of the drug thugs. Nice. Real nice. Maybe we should just invade, occupy and suck their oil. Make Mexico a territory.

Why would closing the borders be a problem, must take the tunnels anyway? Shot and ask questions later.

“Of course not a single mention from the MSM.”

What would you expect, they are too busy dreaming about sleeping with president gawd.

Took them a few days to report on the muslim chopping off his wife’s head. Once it hit the bloggers, they decided they better report on it.

Lol, perhaps Polk should have hung onto it back in 1847; the citizens would be better off today and most would speak english.

Worked for the territory of Florida.

Americans have long wanted their drugs, prostitutes and alcohol!!..and Americans get what they want! Only one of the above has become legal.

Imagine the haul of sin tax money, the government could collect. ;)

How much have we spent in the so-called war on drugs?

Did Prohibition and rum running or rum rows made the Kennedy's (Joseph Kennedy aka “Baptist Bootlegger”) their money?

"Americans had dummy export companies in Canada, one belonging to an already well known American. Nothing was ever proven because there were no company officers to be found, but the name kept coming up over and over. After Prohibition, this man emerged with the sole distribution rights to Gordon's Gin in America. His name? Joe Kennedy."

"With the significant connections Rocco Perri (Kennedy reported client of Rocco Perri’s) and Bessie Starkman had made from the eastern seaboard of the United States through to the mid-west, the trafficking of heroin and morphine ran alongside the sale of illegal alcohol through an established network in all major U.S. cities." Means 'Who's running Old Mexico?'.

A century and more ago, Emilio Zapata was known as "El Caudillo del Sur".

“CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico - Hundreds of people blocked bridges to the United States in three border cities Tuesday, demanding the army leave”

Looks to me like the people of Mexico prefer the beheading drug cartels over their own army. What do you do with a populace like that??? Oh, yeah....send them to us!
