UPDATE #17: Continental Congress 2009

Ed. note: This update regards the upcoming historic Continental Congress 2009 event to be held later this year. As part of CC 2009, delegates selected by the People from each of the fifty states will convene to discuss the Governments ongoing violations of the Constitution and strategies the People can employ to peaceably curtail the abuse. Although these violations have been widely debated for years, it is the Governments patent refusal to respond to any and all First Amendment Petitions for Redress that now compel the People to justly and actively resist the tyranny.
We strongly encourage our readers to review each of our latest updates. At a minimum, please be sure to read our Summit Call and Line in the Sand web articles which provide a good overview of the constitutional crisis and CC 2009 initiative.
Whew! What a project. And its just beginning.
We are engaged in a most serious struggle between good and evil, between defenders of our Republic and proponents of democracy. Our political parties and elected officials have seized power from the People. A doctrine of non-resistance by a free People to arbitrary power and oppression is absurd.
TOPICS: Announcements; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: constitution; redress

I don't recall voting for delegates to a convention.

I have sent several request for redress and have NOT received one answer or response as they do not care what the Constitution says or they do not know as with the PORK Bill.

Mark my words, if Congress does not turn away from this scocialism and come back to the Constitution, there is going to be a new American Revolution and it’s going to be bloody.

This update regards the upcoming historic Continental Congress 2009 event to be held later this year.Sounds lovely -- until the effing Left gets their minds and money wrapped around the idea. Then watch out! So I strongly urge whoever's organizing this to change the name of the event pronto. The first goal should be to do no harm. Giving the Left this idea would do incredible harm.

I learned of this myself only a short time ago but thought it worth posting.

Dream on..the Constitution is being disassembled, it started way back with John Adams, our 2nd President and the Alien and Sedition acts (He also packed the federal courts after his loss to Jefferson which gave us Marbury of “Marbury v. Madison” which gave the interpretation of the Constitution to the Supreme Court...as it turns out, our death knell.). It is much easier now that words contained therein have been redefined.

I've done a brief scan of their home page and they look plenty patriotic to me. They even have a page that shows the evidence against Obama's eligibility for the presidency.

When the con-con happens, it will be a disaster for the USA. It will be an Alinsky-Chavez style circus, and the amendments will write communism into law.
Of course, that will only lead to CW2.

This organization is the brainchild of
Bob Schulz. He's a tax protester who has also run for Governor of New York as a Libertarian. Last fall, he and his organization were the ones who placed the
full page ad in the Chicago Tribune questioning Obama's citizenship status (also
here with more comments).
I'm more than a bit receptive to a "Continental Congress" gathering of constitutional activists. About 10 years ago, I had a web site calling for such a gathering. My screen name comes from that, Continental Congress 2000 = CC2K.
Having said that, I think we might find better organizers and leaders than Mr. Schulz. Someone beating their head against the tax code and fighting a losing battle about the birth certificate isn't necessarily leading where most constitutionalists want to go. Just my humble opinion.

I don’t think the states will recognize a new Constitution based on a modern day con-con! Which will cause break-up, as you state..hopefull it’ll be peaceful!

I don’t think a breakup will be peaceful. DC will release its grip only with screaming and tantrums.

The concept is good.
The name is deceptive.
The people leading it are kind of kooky.
About 1/2 their platform, I don't go along with.
