Barack Obama has sent Sir Winston Churchill packing and pulse rates soaring among anxious British diplomats.

A bust of the former prime minister once voted the greatest Briton in history, which was loaned to George W Bush from the Government's art collection after the September 11 attacks, has now been formally handed back.

The bronze by Sir Jacob Epstein, worth hundreds of thousands of pounds if it were ever sold on the open market, enjoyed pride of place in the Oval Office during President Bush's tenure.

But when British officials offered to let Mr Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: "Thanks, but no thanks."

I wonder if he opened a line of communication to talk to our ally about this? LMAO, as if...

No, he’ll open up lines of communication with our enemies instead.

Churchill would probably say, “I may be drunk, Mr. Obama, but in the morning I’ll be sober and you’ll still be a blithtering idiot.”

I love it. I love it!

My father came back from Germany after WWII with a carved wooden figure of Churchill, I thought it great.

He was an unusual Englishman but a truly great statesman.

That is the best cartoon I have seen this year.

Maybe the Brits can send a bust of Marx to replace this one.

Barack is something that Sir Winston occasionally had to scrape off of his shoes.

He’ll replace Churchill’s bust with a bust of Mugabe.
Birds of a feather!

They’d have to watch that monument very closely, I suspect many people want to “bless” it with yellow water.

But when British officials offered to let Mr Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: "Thanks, but no thanks."

But I am sure that Obama would be pleased to display a bust of that other historical giant more to his liking, Idi Amin...

“I thought it was Neville Chamberlain”

Chamberlain was an appeaser. Che was a Commie Pig. IMO the latter, if one must name a singular is closest in reality, but my wife just piped up that they both are relevant to the discussion.

So OK....I’m an appeaser in my house, so what.

No. In return for a Neville Chamberlain one. Oh, I'm sorry. Chamberlain actually did eventually go to war with Hitler, and promoted reamament. I'll have to do much more research to find a more cowardly figure.
