LOL

Or meet the Kimbers, family friends of note.

You are correct, I have seen news stories on just this hole-in-the-wall method of entry.

A bud of main is in real estate working during the Alaska Depression of 1984 to 1987 (just like the movies, banks failed, 30K moved out of Anchorage, etc, etc)

He had the job of sorting out/cleaning up abandoned homes.

No keys for the most part.

5 lb sledge would open a home in 15 sec. One swipe took of the deadbolt and the second the doorknob/lockset.

He now uses those flush mount and ringlock deadbolts and clued me in on the steel fire-doors. We had a carpenter friend reframe the doorways.

We are going to invest in some “energy shutters” (the roll up kind) for lower floor windows and back (glass) door. Should cut the heating bill.

Having held a crackhead at gunpoint on the back porch, I now see the energy savings as a real plus...

What she really needs is 410 derringer. She could hit all four wall of her apartment with one shot.

This happened near the criminal free environment of Chicago and South Bend, Indiana. This family needs to be robbed several times because they sound like Obama supporters and gun control advocates. Diverse criminals know stupid when they see it.

Oooh, rollies (the shutters). I have never understood why those didn’t catch on in the US - you can’t beat your way through them with a maul. And they make perfect hurricane shutters.

Well, the good ones are not cheap.

And it’s not like (right now) we live in compounds with broken glass on top of the patio walls (yet).’

My sister has them instaled and her HVAC bills dropped. We have the thick dayight blocking curtains, but we think with the pork hits the fans we could use ‘weatherproofing’ $ to help lower the cost of these “energy shutters”

We are also looking at a couple of direct vent heaters to allow us to further drop the thermostat & heat just a small area at night.

My heating bill was $250 for Jan, tho the temps were record cold, I don’t see it being warmer next winter.

So this summer will be busy as we do our part to bouy up the economy.....

Did you see a lot of rollies in DEland?

Same here.

We've got an Australian Shepherd alarm system to give us a few seconds notice.

After that, the game's over. Everyone in this house shoots. (And we have LOTS of guns.)

This is a Serbu Shorty. It’s an NFA weapon and requires the fed tax stamp. The price is $705. You can see it at;

Unfortunately...you can get into most homes with noting more tan a box knife, inside a couple of minutes. Ignore the doors and windows (they will be alarmed, if anything is), and make your own door beteen any two studs. Cut through the vinyl siding, cut through the foam board, yank out the insulation, cut through the sheetrock...

I guess my 1973 doublewide is superior -- there's a layer of plywood under there. LOL But then they wouldn't come looking for a 50" plasma anyway. But there is a Geo in the driveway

Yep - most new construction is foam board, not plywood.

Sheez.

Can you picture my 5 dogs protecting me?

They're ShitSues. The only thing they're going to protect is their food bowls.

I use a different kind of dead bolt.

Let me guess: They bolt into your home and they're dead? Me too!
