Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband -- an influential member of the local Muslim community -- reported her death to police Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.
"He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead," Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.
Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.
Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

The reason I don’t believe all Muslims would do these things is because not all Muslims probably even believe themselves - people are people and they are no different than other “so-called” name the religion. Lots of people grow up in a culture and faith and they just go along with the flow but deep inside question. Only God knows.
While I believe their Qur’an DOES preach violence and intolerance and that a large number of their mullahs preach hate and anti-American and anti-Israel/Jewish propaganda, I recognize that each individual may not necessarily subscribe to that crap and most Muslims probably aren’t going to behead their spouse for divorce. Just like most Christians aren’t going to murder their pastor spouse (similar to that murder down in the South a couple of years back).
The religion of peace.
Religion of peace ping.
New York ping.
Remember, folks, it’s a religion of peace.
This might be a setback in his achievement of his goal.
