NEW YORK A prominent Buffalo area businessman who founded the BridgesTV network to improve the image of Muslims in the U.S. has been arrested and charged with murdering his estranged wife by beheading hear at his companys office on Thursday.
Police have charged the husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder in death of Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37.
In its logo, BridgesTV boasts of connecting people through understanding via its dish network. Its Web site quotes comments on the company by Jay Leno, Brian Williams and others, plus a screen shot of a CNBC interview with Hassan conducted by Maria Bartiromo.
The site also shows a picture of Hassan with his slain wife, described as playing an instrumental role in the creation of Bridges TV since she came up with the idea for the network.
NPR's "All Things Considered" profile the Hassans in 2004. The segment opened, "A new cable network for Muslim-Americans is up and running in Detroit. Bridges TV says it wants to inform and entertain Muslims and, at the same time, give viewers who aren't Muslims a glimpse into their culture....
"Mo Hassan was traveling from Buffalo to Detroit a few weeks after the September 11th terrorist attacks when his wife came up with the idea for the new network. They were in the car listening to the radio when they heard some derogatory remarks about Muslims."
Programs include kids shows, "American Muslim Teen Talk," Amy Goodman's "Democracy Now" and an interview show with James Zogby. Its new program "brings you balanced coverage from around the world. News you can trust."
The alleged killer is called Mo S. Hassan at the web site. He is CEO of the company after stints as a sales rep at Proctor & Gamble and as a banker in Buffalo. He got his MBA at the University of Rochester. The bio concludes: Mr. Hassan brings to Bridges TV vision, persistence, data-based decision making and financial discipline.
Police says the wife had an order of protection from the man. A murder weapon has not yet been recovered.
Just remember: Janet Reno et al say that terrorism is a law enforcement matter.
So the story goes, the General immediately gathered his troops and had them start on a gallows. The morning of the funeral, the General supposedly said, “We British have a charming little custom of our own. Immediately after the wife of the deceased has been thrown on the fire, we will hang those responsible.” I gather it had immediate impact. Even if it isn't true — that's the kind of strength of character (and sense of humor) I'm looking for.
I love that story, but can't think of the General's name.
I think he stabbed them all.
John F'n Kerry told me that the threat of terrorism was overblown.
I feeeeeeel better now.
remember the old Bugs Bunny cartoon... "HASSAN CHOP!"
Ali Baba Bunny--"Hassan rushes towards them both, sword raised, with the cry of "Hassan chop!" Daffy tells Hassan to chop the rabbit instead, but Bugs has already concocted a plan. He has squeezed into a tiny glass bottle, proclaiming to be a genie and offering Hassan a rich reward for releasing him. Hassan is fooled and shakes Bugs out of the bottle"
The frightening thing about this is that once again it illustrates that so many adherents of Islam who adopt the thin veneer of Western civilization on the outside are nevertheless barbarians on the inside, unable to resist acting on deeply-ingrained totalitarian death cult urges. This is the same syndrome that we saw when British-Pakistani doctors were revealed to have been complicit in planning and executing barbaric terrorist attacks.
They may have degrees from elite Western universities, work for respectable Western corporations, participate in academic and professional societies, dress in Western fashions, speak and read in English, carry around and use an iPod or a laptop PC, watch news, sports, and entertainment on wide-screen HDTV sets, benefit materially and medically by virtue of the freedoms that come from living in the West instead of in their native hellholes, and otherwise benefit immensely from the fruits of Western Civilization, and yet underneath (and not so very far underneath), so many of them are little more than crude savages.
Is it genetic? I doubt it, because there are many people who were brought up as Muslims who have grown to understand and reject the savagery and inhumanity that is so strongly associated with the devoted practice of Islam. I don't believe in a literal Satan, but sometimes you have to wonder...
More like, "disconnecting heads through disagreement" !

“What is it with Buffalo?
They also had those Lackawanna terrorists.
Are they the new Muslim HQ (after Detroit)?”
Buffalo is on the border with Canada. Many of us don’t want to face the fact that many terrorists come and go across our northern border.
Who needs scrappleface?
Didn't realize they were muzzi sympathizers.
or the bodies would be arranged in such a manner as to help calm your chi.
Thank you! What a charming fellow he must have been.
Finally, some good news today, at least for those of us that are full top of muslim apologists.
Sucks to be that guy’s wife, however, what was she thinking in the first place?
That’s no way to get ahead in life.
