Rep. John Culberson, TX claims the "stimulus" bill must be urgently voted on today -- because Speaker Nancy Pelosi is leaving at 6:00 PM for an 8 day trip to Europe!
Culberson made the charge on Houston's KSEV radio.
Pelosi is hoping to lead a delegation to Europe; there's a meeting with the Pope and an award from an Italian legislative group.
Calls to Pelosi's spokesman went unreturned.
In the rushing, Democrats have now broken their promise to have the public see the $790 billion bill for 48 hours before any vote.
Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) predicted that none of his Senate colleagues would 'have the chance' to read the entire final version of the 1,071-page bill before it comes up for a final vote.
It is my hope (dream?) that while she's in Rome, Pope Benedict XVI invites her to a private audience and excommunicates her!
I always knew this was true, but I never expected one of the Capital Hill Cretins to actually say it out loud.
In another time, these "stewards" of the public's pursestrings would have been chased out of town with pitchforks and torches.

You are absolutely correct about that. Replace Pelosi’s name with any Republican or even a RINO and the press would have splashy headlines like “America, Drop Dead”.
Apparently, she wants to burn America before she fiddles in Rome.

If Pelosi is Catholic, it would be the Pope’s duty to excommunicate her. Pelosi supports abortion, and “gay rights”. Seems pretty far outside of Catholic teaching to me.
Pelosi is the most disgusting person in politics today. She makes Hillary! seem likable.
That would be exactly what she deserves, finally. However, the fact that she is meeting with the Pope makes me very angry that he would even consider such a thing, unless he plans to admonish her very sternly.
I believe that Pelosi has a private jet at her disposal. She can fly whenever she wants. Unless she’s scheduled surgery over there to have her head removed from her ass.
It would be lovely if the Pope refused to meet with her...(guess that won’t happen, eh)

Talked to a Rep once. He said in his first term he was determined to read every bill he voted on. In his second term he’d scaled back to reading every bill he co-sponsored. By he third term he was down to reading every bill he’d written. Yes, frequently Reps and Senators have not read bills they supposedly wrote.
