GOP (OK) House members take aim at gay pastor

In an unusual move in the state House of Representatives a group of Republicans tried to exclude a gay pastor's prayer from becoming a part of the House record.

The Rev. Scott Jones offered the daily prayer yesterday after introducing several people including a man he called his "loving partner and fiance, Michael."

When Democratic Rep. Al McAffrey asked to make the prayer part of the House record Republican Rep. John Wright objected and called for a vote.

The House then voted 64-20 to include the prayer in the official record.

Wright said later he didn't agree with comments made by Jones and says his actions were motivated by "the faith."

McAffrey says he sure the negative votes were due to Jones and most of his congregation being gay.

Nothing like treating abnormal behavior as normal.

Hell is just around the corner for folks who do that.

God can be provoked.

Gay pastor?

What the heck is wrong with that? I know lots of happy pastors.

Surely they don’t mean the guy was a homosexual?!!

" his "loving partner and fiance, Michael."

That remindsme. Is Barney Frank's wife still running a prostitution ring out of his own house, or did that stop?

If the government is going to invite someone in to say a prayer, they should be able to pray whatever they want.

We get rightly angry when religious conservatives are denied a chance to pray as they wish at a government sponsered event, becuase it is not the government’s job to decide what is and is not a valid religious belief.

That works the other way also. The government shouldn’t be declaring a religious belief to be “too liberal” either.

Well, OK ... and by the same token, if somebody is invited in to say a prayer, they should just say the prayer, and leave the politics to the politicians.

Mr. Jones apparently could not limit himself to pastoral duties. He was out of line.

Man I hope that Jesus is getting ready to come back. It's like watching Basketball and the head coach has his best player on the bench waiting for the right moment to send him in. No one can attempt to guess what God is thinking, but it's looking like game time for Jesus from down here.

P.S. I know that Jesus is alive in Heaven and is working in our lives everyday. I am strictly talking about Him returning to earth.

They should have let it pass. The choice is going to come down to, either standing still for this nonsense, or eliminate the prayer, all together. Take your choice. The next prayer will be from a radical Muslim, and then a Hindu, or maybe even a Hari Krishna or something. Remember them, the Hari Krishnas?

Mr. McAffrey: How is standing up for Biblical Truth “being gay”? More psychological warfare..? That’s screwed up.

LOL, the GOP is pathetic.

We just signed a wholly Socialistic Bill and I’m supposed to get all red meat about a stupid action like this.

Exactly. It’s sad that some here don’t quite understand that.

Of course, when we have so-called conservatives like Alex Knepper over at race42012.com claiming to be proud of homosexuality, you know we are losin gthis battle.
