Cogdill: Budget pact 'as good as I could get'
The Sacramento Bee ^ | Feb. 11, 2009 | Shane Goldmacher

...on Wednesday, Senate GOP leader Dave Codgill gave the strongest public word yet that a budget deal has been struck

"My deal, one more time, has always been that I would try my best to get it to a position where I felt it was as good as I could get and I was willing to release my members," Cogdill said ... "That's where I am. So I'm not guaranteeing any votes; it's up to them (his members) to make that decision."

"But I've negotiated it to the point where I think it doesn't get any better," Cogdill said.

KEYWORDS: arnold; republicans; sellout; taxifornia
Looks like Cogdill is about to cave. I wonder which RINOS the Dems will be able to peel off to pass their tax package. Better make your U-haul reservations early, they're going to go fast.

What a coward. He’s hoping that some other Republicans will agree to the compromise so he can go ahead and vote ‘no’ and hope his constituents will still bring him back for the next election cycle. Whichever Rep votes for this crap will find his days in Sacramento numbered.

“My deal, one more time, has always been that I would try my best to get it to a position where I felt it was as good as I could get...”

What’s with the get, get, get?

Who’s gonna have to give, give, give?

Just say NO (and/or send ever taxpayer a 30 day check to spend or lose)

Relatively speaking, this is a worse deal than the federal “porkulus”. In a serious economic decline, California is boosting sales, gas, and income tax? Insane. I feel bad for local retail - I’m in Los Angeles and the sales tax will be 9.75%!! Amazon prime is going to be an even bigger blessing - maybe that’s why their stock is doing well.

When are we going to learn about the Republicans? At least the Democrats are clear about their intentions: totalitarian marxism. Now we hear from Republicans that “it’s the best we can do?” No. Wrong. You can do nothing, which would be better. You can refuse to negotiate with liberal fascist liars, which would be better. You can let the State shut down, which would be better. You can boycott the process, which would be better. Anything is better than caving in to the liberal fascists.

The Republican leaders caved to the Democrats on billions in new taxes and new debt - and they're telling us this "is the best we could get?"

HELL NO - if this best they could get, I would rather see California go bankrupt than sign the death warrant of the Republican Party. Which is what this phony "budget deal" represents!
