We had a sufficient numbers of FReepers and signs to make our opinion known at the southwest entrance to the Dirksen Building. We arrived around 10AM and stayed till 3PM. The original plans were to be on 2nd Street at the main entrance to the Hart Building, but foot traffic was light so we moved around the corner. For those who don’t know, the Hart Building and the Dirksen Building are really one building. There is a corridor connecting the two.
Those patriots protesting the Porkulus Bill today were: JimRob (For the newbies, Jim Robinson, aka JimRob, is the founder of FR, flew in from California) and his son, Fraxinus, Just A Nobody, and from Texas, Pamlet, her son PLewis1250 and his wife, also from Texas, and myself.
Hopefully everyone has read about Monday’s events when JimRob et al, was joined by Melanie Morgan and others. They had a good day stopping at various Senators’ offices while today we were giving our message to the common people. Seeing the final vote on Tuesday afternoon and hearing about the DemoRATs close door session of melding the House and Senate bills, it doesn’t look like either days made too much difference. But all those who called, faxed, emailed or protested the Porkulus bill can be proud of themselves. Today’s protest was more favorable to FR since we identified ourselves as FReeRepublic.com to those who were of the same mind as us. FR should get some additional traffic.

The reason I spent so much time on these pictures was that Just A Nobody suggested that instead of just having the sign on the light facing walkers, that we should put the signs on the sides facing the traffic. Good idea from our point of view, but a No-No to the Capitol police. One was passing in his car and also saw them. He made us take them down and untape the others by the sidewalk. Something about the Capitol’s architect doesn’t want any tape on his ganite monuments.
Just A Nobody mentioned how the Capitol police in January 2007 were told by PIGlosi not to interfere with the anti-war protesters when they spay painted the Capitol steps. Some history: because they sprayed the steps, and then announced that their March march to the Pentagon was going to meet at the Vietnam Wall, Gathering of Eagles was born to protect the Wall. Who can forget that cold and windy Saturday, March 17,2007 when troop supporters vastly out numbered the anti-troop anarchist?
Back to our story, we persevered and figured out a covert way keep them from blowing away and used overt props to help. BELOW:

We had some lively discussions with several individuals and groups that agreed with the Porkulus Bill. JimRob and Just A Nobody were very vocal in shouting “Stop the Porkulus bill” and arguing with those who were in support of the bill. Just A Nobody was especially argumentive to the person who said we should be a socialist society. I was agrumentive to the chaperone of color of a group of students who said they were going to get Michael Steele and that Steele was a double stuffed Oreo cookie. I told him several time that he was racist.
We did have our supporters that stopped and talked to us, or gave us the thumbs up as they passed by or as they went into the Hart/Dirksen Building. Unfortunately their business of the day in the Hart/Dirksen Building was not to help stop the Porkulus Bill. Weenies.
My personal observation of the last week’s events: It appears that for future Rat actions that take away our freedoms, we need to get started earlier and make our representatives and the biased MSM pay attention to us, non violently of course. And we need to get better organized. Different groups need to come together to fight for our freedoms. Strength is in our numbers.
God help these United States of America. I hope we survive to take back Congress and the presidency as soon as possible.

We come from a tradition of “activists” .. always conservative...
We purposely went in memory of my parents who passed away this past year - they were the ones who brought me to Free Republic many years ago .. They participated a few times in large freeps ... driving from to Washington from Chicago .. dismayed at the Clinton presidency.
I knew they would be disgusted at this Porkulus .. and felt we needed to go and put our faces with our voices.

Yep, the warmer weather was better than the last several weeks. But this Saturday sounds like a day to stay in bed. Speaking of Olney, looking forward to seeing you again in Olney when your work schedule allows it.

The weird thing is we can’t find a screenname anywhere - they never did talk of posting ... But I know YEARS ago they did sign in because of the way the pages acted ..
They were great people - they instilled conservative values in us .. they lived their lives by example .. (Though when I really acted out my father would tell me to “Do what I say not do what I do” ... hahahahaha)
Daddy had been in the Navy in WWII - at the very end - he was YOUNG .. Mom went to radio school at Wright Patterson .. They taught us to love our nation - and stand up for what is right..
We miss them ..
