LOS ANGELES – A big share of the financial burden of raising Nadya Suleman's 14 children could fall on the shoulders of California's taxpayers, compounding the public furor in a state already billions of dollars in the red.
Even before the 33-year-old single, unemployed mother gave birth to octuplets last month, she had been caring for her six other children with the help of $490 a month in food stamps, plus Social Security disability payments for three of the youngsters. The public aid will almost certainly be increased with the new additions to her family.
Also, the hospital where the octuplets are expected to spend seven to 12 weeks has requested reimbursement from Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid program, for care of the premature babies, according to the Los Angeles Times. The cost has not been disclosed.

Someone needs to bring a lawsuit in behalf of the taxpayer and make the clinic pay for her children......

As resident of this state do I have the right to be mad YES I DO. I got lectured the other day by someone about what do I care if she has 14 kids she is “PAYING” for them and not on welfare her family said. I told the person I WILL BET YOU A PAYCHECK SHE IS ON WELFARE AND HAS BEEN FOR A LONG TIME.So now we get to pay for 8 more kids, 3 will be on state aide for ever since they have disability problems WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS WHERE DID SHE GET THE MONEY FOR FERTILITY TREATMENTS. And how can she be $50,000 in CC debt as I heard today who in the right mind would give her a CC when she had no job. This woman should not be allowed to have anymore children and as a taxpayer I am very upset while I am working my A** off and am responsible me and every other tax payer has to pay the bill which will be HUGE!!!!!And frankly WE IN CA CAN’T AFFORD ANYMORE FREELOADERS
Why is this considered news? Everyone with two brain cells to rub together realized this on the initial reports that this woman lived with her parents, and that there was no husband involved.
My question is: why aren’t these babies put up for adoption? It’s obvious the mother is unable to raise them.

Heck, I think the entire surgical team involved in the egg implantation should be neutered, sans anesthesia.
She had no job but she did have a settlement for some earlier injury, something in the order of $160,000, that she was living off of. She's basically been a sponge to society most of her adult life.
DUH!!!!!!!!!!! Santa Claus won't! Send the damn doctor the bill and pull his license if he does not pay, if not for him, the kids would not exsist, sounds like a FATHER to me!
I agree, something smells , bad. There are likely already things happening behind the scenes as this one unfolds. She’s a bit of an overachiever to say the least.
