The Presidency - My most unpopular post (vanity) but worth reading

Posted on 02/11/2009 9:40:57 AM PST by Scythian

I was only able to catch the tail end of the Presidents (yes, that's how I address him) speech the other night and he said something that at first enraged me then within seconds realized that what he had said in fact was true, maybe you caught it to, it was at the very end of his speech.

He said "We certainly don't need 8 or 12 more years of tax cuts" and he was saying this to mean as way to fix the problem.

So I thought, you know, he's right, we had the last Presidents tax cuts and look at us now. Now, you're probably blowing up and like all partisans about to call me a liberal, but I assure you I am not. '

Here is what I realized. This financial disaster isn't our last President's and it certainly cannot be our current Presidents fault. It's the fault of Americans, plain and simple, not democrats, not republicans, just people who after work go home, maybe to a family, eat dinner, and watch TV. However, what they did during the day was walk all over people, crush others to get to the top, take advantage of others or systems or processes to get ahead. They forgot about ethics probably so much so they felt completely justified and even righteous about their actions.

I won’t go into the religious side of this issue. I only will only say Americans are to blame, from fat cats to the person taking a loan on house he knew he couldn't handle. And now, Americans are failing to do the right thing to fix the problem, and that is, pay for their mistakes. So their children are at school today, thinking nothing’s wrong but some high finance thing, meanwhile, deceit, lies, deception, and corruption are at work in the very homes, never mentioned at the dinner table, for so many hands are guilty.

So rail against our President if you want, but on the night of the speech I told my Wife and son I didn't want to hear any more of the dis-respect out of their mouths. I am an American, and in my house we do not disrespect the President. We bought a house we could afford, and work hard, and pay taxes, and follow the rule of law.

Tonight in fact, I am going to sit down and explain to my children why America is in this mess and that I don't want them bad mouthing the president like so much must be going on at School. When I talk to my children I will not use the term republican or democrat, but rather integrity, honor, stewardship, and those lie at the feet of Americans, not politicians. America is corrupt, her people are corrupt, not all of them, but a very high majority of them.

Good thing that YOU'RE paying taxes, so Timmy Geithner and Tommy Daschle don't have to! **grin**

I spit on Obama. He deserves no respect, because he has shown total disrespect for honest taxpaying citizens.

Sorry, but I don’t respect anyone who uses taxpayer money to murder babies at home and abroad.

This statement..

"So I thought, you know, he's right, we had the last Presidents tax cuts and look at us now."

Invalidates this statement...

"This financial disaster isn't our last President's and it certainly cannot be our current Presidents fault."

I pity the confusion you will instill in your kids.

we need 8 to 12 years of spending cuts, starting with entitlements. We also need this recession, like a forest needs fires, to clear out the deadwood and the rubbish. We can’t keep propping up the buggy whip companies, we need to crash-land them, so that the next level of innovation, ingenuity and entrepreneurship can help push the economy forward.

I am an American, and before I ackowledge a President, I want to see some ID...if I can’t get on a plane without any, he can’t be my President without any. We DO have laws...before I call any one President, I want to know they are an American, too...

Anyone who supports this fraud in office as he completes the destruction of this nation, is complicit.

My point was that we had the tax cuts in place and we still have this crisis, the crisis isn’t money or lack of money, you don’t get it because you’re too partisan, this is not a political problem and not a single soul on this supposed enlightened sight could see past their blinders and hatred for our President to realize that. My children have a wonderful father who tonight is going to re-instill their faith in America, and it will not be by telling them to spit in Obama’s face, and calling him a baby murdered, our last President didn’t stop that either. Say what you will, but when I see things wrong, with my own party or people I am man enough to admit it, and change myself, or my life’s direction.

We do in mine....we watched the disrepect of Bush for the past eight years, and feel it's now our right and privilege.

The counterpoint to the de Tocqueville quote.

do them a REAL favor - teach them to take nothing on face value, don’t let anyone buffalo them and teach them to demand that this President meet the same requirements 43 other Presidents have met. It’s called rule of Law and its why we are different from other countries...we don’t allow imposters to bully their way into office...and then explain this isn’t Partisanship, it is common sense and in the best traditiond of America...

You apparently know very little about economics and finance. The tax cuts worked, the problem is they were not followed by spending cuts by the government. Entitlements continued to grow automatically as well. Had the government showed the same restraint as most common households show with their budgets we would not be having this problem. BTW, making housing an entitlement sure went a long way to creating this current problem.

The current problem may not be Obama’s fault, but congress can be blamed for a lot of it. They are the ones that encouraged the loans to people that could not afford it.

Also, Obama can be blamed for pushing through a terrible “stimulus” package that isn’t a stimulus package that has horrible things like socialized medicine in it.

Obama can also be to blame for scaring our country. President Bush can also be blamed for taking us down this path by pushing for the first bailout, and then not even doing what they said they were going to do.

...in my house we do not disrespect the President.

In my house we call 'em as we see 'em. he is my President. He is also a marxist, partisan, lying, corrupt, thieving sh**.

But hey, we're only 3 weeks into his term. That may change.... perhaps even for the better, though I doubt it.
