Heart-ache: Palin backs out of CPAC

Rush will still be there, but it’s not really “grassroots Woodstock” anymore without her. Now, because of the letdown, it’s more like grassroots Altamont: Plenty of good acts and one great one to close the show, but an angry, angry crowd nonetheless. The opening-day headliner for the annual CPAC conservative convention February 26-28, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, has pulled out, citing state business in Juneau. “We’re obviously disappointed,” said a CPAC official. A spokesman for the three-day confab, organized by the American Conservative Union Foundation and others, said that Palin, the popular former vice presidential nominee, had indicated she would be able to attend but cited “duties of governing” in bowing out. Instead, she will send in a taped message. The Democrats up there have been grumbling about her being out of state so much. Maybe she figured she could either get away for the Alfalfa Dinner or CPAC but not both and had to make a hard choice. Exit question: Huckabee to replace her? The message, at least, will be similar. And he’s anti-stimulus!

I don’t know if there’s a stronger supporter of the Governor on FR than myself. So, please alleviate my concern. If she has to worry about the volcano, or she wants to stay in Alaska to do her job-—why did she attend the Alfalfa dinner?

If all of conservatism is really heading for “forever political minority status”, then what’s the point for such a gathering? Michael Steele is a RINO who is also RNC Chair, and yet, he’s at CPAC along with RINOs Romney, Paul, and Huckabee. Who seriously believes that conservatism will really make any kind of serious political comeback anytime soon when: the Fairness Doctrine will successfully suppress all non-leftistism; when all political correctness keeps on getting even worse for everybody; when illegal immigrants and almost all criminals will also be added to future voter rolls by leftists; when leftist judges, at every level, abuse their power even more, while also legislating from the bench; when Presidential term limits is thrown out by leftists; when too many of the general public keep getting more politically ignorant and more politically stupid everyday; and when too many of the general public will keep getting more and more addicted to a socialistic form of government everyday? Seriously, how can conservatism successfully get around all of these things that I have mentioned and for the long-term?

I have NEVER felt the way I do today. Bitter, angry, letdown, helpless. Foolish for even posting to this sight anymore. Even making little grammatical errors for grins isn’t any fun anymore.

“No 3rd parties can ever make it”

That's pretty much the epitome of a truism. A truism is a notion that's true if it's true, and not true if it isn't. As I keep telling people who pooh-pooh the dangers of That Man, just because something hasn't happened before doesn't mean it won't. As they say in finance, historical results are no indication of future performance.

Because the estimates put the time for an eruption at the time of THIS event, not Alfalfa. There was no concern at this time then.

That's not sweetening the deal. How about Jindal?

The way she was mistreated by some Republicans, I don’t blame her.

Is there anyone else in the political arena that's taken more hits from both sides than Sarah Palin?

Her political assasination started instantly with the left, moved quickly to include the right and continues to this day.

Maybe the reason why Palin isn’t going is because the Attorney General she appointed has just resigned. It was reported that he told people to ignore subpoenas in the troopergate scandal. If it wasn’t for that, Palin would be there. There is nothing that would keep her away from the spotlight. She couldn’t stay away from the Alfalfa dinner the other day.

Makes me almost glad I’m not able to afford it...seeing SP would’ve been awesome.

Someday, I will make it to CPAC. :)

Unfortunately CPAC comes in February which is during the 90 Alaskan legislature. Maybe they’ll move it to April next year. A video is OK, but it’s not the same as her being there. She had to pull out last year because of the legislature being in session, so it’s probably not totally due to the pressure that has been put on her since the campaign. Last weekend she did a video address at the opening of the World Special Olympics in Idaho. Still haven’t seen that one yet. Hopefully, the CPAC video will be made available on the internet.

I heard she has been invited to the NRA convention in Phoenix in May. If she has, hopefully, she’ll be able to attend that, or at least do another video.

You may be right. I wasn’t taking issue why Palin wouldn’t be there. After all, what politico doesn’t like the spotlight?

The point of my post was to further expose the phony conservatives that have infected CPAC in the name of Willard Myth Romney.

Easy....Alfalfa is a bi-partisan event. Technically, CPAC is a political event. She had stated that she wouldn’t do anything of a political nature during the legislative session.

To be precise, she did NOT pull-out of CPAC. She was never confirmed, only invited, as her media office and CPAC itself have emphasized all along. Many are invited, including Jindal, but until they confirm no one should count on anything. CPAC is a tough event for active governors to attend as it occurs in the middle of nearly every state’s legislative session. That said, it’s a shame CPAC can’t work out a satellite feed so she could speak that way.

This is outrageous. The main reason my husband and I signed up for the expen$ive Diamond Package this year was the "promise" that Sarah Palin would be there in person (and we would supposedly get that preferred Diamond seating down front). The Diamond Package price was jacked up about 65% this year, which is pushing it to our limits.

I had a strong feeling Sarah wasn't going to show up at CPAC, after I heard she "had to" (?) attend that ridiculous Alfafa Dinner a few weeks ago in DC. Good grief... if she could have made a choice to attend one or the other, you would THINK she'd choose her base... those of us who voted for her in November.

Great, so now we get to sit there and listen to her taped message to CPAC attendees, instead of seeing her in person.

I am so ticked. Rush Limbaugh had better not back out next... :-(
