Don’t forget that a big part of his $Billion campaign was financed by the Arabs.

We have now offically submitted to the Islamic caliphate - SAUDIS and OPEC.

It was bad enough with Bush but now it’s official.

the reason WHY oil prices dropped under Bush over the summer was the fact Pres Bush made these leases available for exploration !!!

No, the reason why oil prices dropped is because of a world economic collapse which led to an immediate decrease in demand compounded with the expectation that demand would further decrease or not increase for the foreseeable future.

And with the current price of oil there will not be an expansion of domestic drilling. Instead, domestic drilling is decreasing.

Drill, Here Drill Now is Dead!

Yup, all the more reason to secede, IMHO - we have no need to sit here and take the Federal energy screwing. :P

In this case, Obama is probably right. We're better off waiting a few years.

Waiting a few years? Until gas is back up to $4.00 gallon...and we're still ten years away from pumping a barrel?

There's no econmic reason for not continuing with the plan -- bidding the leases and allowing the lengthy exploration phase to begin. Then, when we need it, we'll be that much closer to production.

The only reasons against it are political.

Moreover, shutting down the operation favors only two groupx -- OPEC and the oil speculators.

Remember how the price started cranking up after the Democrats took over Congress in 2006 -- signaling for all the world to see that they would attempt to block additional domestic energy production?

Remember how the price started coming down only after the GOP House held their "sit-in", spotlighting the stupidity of the Democrat policy, resulting in a lifting of the ban on offshore drilling (and serious consideration of ANWR)?

Continuing the policy would serve to a.) keep oil prices low and b.) set the stage for development of the reserves once they are needed.

ROFLOL. Oh, and the recession & financial crisis had nothing to do with it, right? No, of course not. Instead, it was the prospect that oil supply might increase by 0.1% five years from now./sarcasm

The stupidity that can be found on the internet never ceases to amaze me.

DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW!

With oil prices under $40/barrel, it just ain't gonna happen.

The fact is that the number of domestic drilling projects have decreased over the last six months and that decrease in the rig count has nothing to do with the federal E&P restrictions.

Instead, the rig count is down due to the decrease in the price of oil.

If you would like to see an expansion of drilling in the United States, you will need to pay at least $3.00 for a gallon of gas.

At oil prices under $40/barrel, no oil company is going to do any exploring any time soon. There's an economic reason for that.

What if the frog is already dead?

Are you kidding? Just look at how angry the conservative base is today. Then, consider we're only three weeks into this thing. This frog is far from dead.

Once the "centrist" and "moderate" idiots begin experiencing first-hand the consequences of their recent Election Day mistakes, the frog will finally start feeling the heat.

Exploration is definitely decreasing, but its not going to completely stop.

Good point. What I meant to say is, even if we auctioned off all those leases today, it's very unlikely there would be any significant increase in exploration as a result. We also likely wouldn't get very much for those leases, either.

Waiting for oil prices to recover a bit before we run the auctions would probably be in both the taxpayers' and consumers' best interests. Would you agree?
