LOS ANGELES (AP) - The California mother of octuplets already receives food stamps and disability payments to help feed and care for her six other children.
Publicist Mike Furtney said Monday that Nadya Suleman receives $490 a month in food stamps.

Temporary is how the system should be used.
Assets, maybe. But unless she traded some real estate for the IVF, she had to have paid with cash.
I can feed adult folks WELL on that amount. Fresh fruit, fresh veggies, identifiable meats (mostly), fresh baked bread. And the audience is young. Pasta is always going to be a winner.
But I'm betting she doesn't have the skill-sets to run a DFAC or a Dining Hall.

What I should have said in #18 (getting rusty here) is assets are not considered at all now for the Basic Food program if income is below the limit. I think the income limit for a family of four is in the mid-30,000.
The “disability payments” that the young lady receives for her 6 other children are SSI checks. Each disabled child can get $674 federal benefit plus $223 California state supplement.
If all 6 of the children qualify as “disabled” it totals out to more $5442 a month.
If she had minimal income, she’d get a lot more than $490/mo in food stamps.
I don’t know. There are many more questions than answers in this case.
The Insider has the scoop. Nadya has never contributed any money to the children’s upbringing, says her Mom. Apparently, the grandparents have been footing the bill. Also, The Insider showed photos of the conditions in which Nadya’s six other children have been living, and in which apparently Grandma has been caring for them. Filthy. Shocking. Woefully inadequate.
Having said all that, we have now seen first pics of the eight babies and they are heart-achingly BEAUTIFUL....
I will have to look and see if cash is considered a countable asset when qualifying an applicant. I know it seems odd if it isn’t, but the intent of the Farm Bill was to exclude assets from consideraton.
Pretty much confirmation of the obvious... she is human waste. She should have been spayed after she got her first food stamp.
Not a bad thing. Most states also allow purchase of seed as well with food-stamp $$s.
Planning is the thing, though. Each family should know how many pounds of fruit, fresh veg, starches, and meats are required for a month.
The Chefs on FR should put together a planning guide for frugal meals and teach some classes on "mystery baskets". Folks waste a lot of money on food.

You know, I don't hear much about the Doctor who did the vitro fertilization for the woman the 2nd time. Doesn't ethics play any part in this story?
This woman has raped the tax payers for hundreds of thousands of dollars and the tax payer rape continues.
After this woman went on nation wide television stating, "I don't receive help from the government." She lied.
When interviewed later, this public relations idiot responds when questioned about these government handouts and states, "Well, she does not consider that government help.".
I want to know who is paying all of the delivery bills for the 42 people in the OR, and the neonatal unit for at least the next 6 weeks. No one in the media seems to ask any questions I have.
That’s for her and the 6 kids. $125 per week...Yes, that can be done. Now, what else does she get?? That’s just the stamps. What do her parents get??
That sounds good.
She’s been on a workers comp claim for about 10 years...She’s collected about a $250,000 on that deal, and she continue to collect on the workers comp claim.
and how did she afford the money for all the collagen lip injections. that ain't cheap.
