I just heard Sen. Harry Reid say, while listening to C-Span's live coverage of the debate on H.R. 1 (Economic Stimulus Package), that there are no businesses who are against this bill.
Can any of you business owners, who are against this bill, please contact his office and let him know how wrong he is???

They are doing the role call now
Harry Reid opened his mouth so that means he is lying (AGAIN)!
This is a travesty for this country.

Did I miss count or are they still voting?
24 all now
Collins was real emotional before the vote whining and crying about her hard choice—thought for a sec she might return to the good side.
She didn’t.
They are voting for the collins/Nelson replacement bill. If passed they will vote on the bill tommorow this continues the bill forward
As a small business owner, I told the sleazebag that I was against the stimulus FWIW.
The ONLY “businesses” Reid knows are probably dirty ones that don’t pay their taxes.
They have 60 votes, the bill moves forward.
So the three turncoats voted with the Dems. Sixty-one votes for and 36 votes against. Kennedy must have flown back.
I strongly urge you to VOTE NO on the Stimulus Bill
Senator:
As you know by now, the bill before you is one that we as American citizens reject in an overwhelming majority. This bill currently has only 30% support of the citizenry as anyone can see that it is not stimulative to anything but growing the government and providing temporary jobs at taxpayer expense. This bill will soon poll at less than 20% as more people find out that there is no immediate impact to the economy and only provides temporary jobs.
It is 2009! We need relief NOW! Not 2 or 3 years from now!
I am one of those people who wonder how you can, in good conscious, authorize the egregious spending of our money.
There is nothing in this bill to stimulate the economy and get Americans back to work. In order for it to be considered stimulative it would need to have an immediate effect. As it is, only 10% of this bill will be spent in this year 2009, with subsequent spending over the next few years. I ask you how does this help us?
What will you tell your constituents? We built a better government building, we tiled some rooms, improved a lawn for the government? That would be fine if these were attractions that we as American Citizens would pay to see, kind of like an amusement park, but the truth is most of us will never see something that we are taxed on. Further, how does this put Americans back to work in the short term/long term?
Additionally, I note the bill has provisions to bail out other entities. Who decides what entities get our monies. Who plays God and decides which ones won't or if they do what are the strings attached?
This bill only creates more government entities and produces nothing.
A business or individual on the other hand produces commerce which we are then taxed on. The important things like GDP, personal savings and income are derived from producing something and exchanging it for money, which you then tax us on. You will not be able to tax yourself you are exempt from taxes!
This bill has the equation completely backwards and upside down.
In fact, I am calling the bill for what it is: The Stick It to US Bill
You absolutely must VOTE NO on the Stimulus Bill
Sincerely,

So if the stimulus bill is $800 Billion for 4 Million jobs.
That’s $200,000 per job.
