Since November 2008 British television has been broadcasting a wealth of new programs about the United States. Three of these series have already started rerunning at the end of January.
The three BBC series have been Professor Simon Schama’s The American Future, Stephen Fry in America, and Louis Theroux’s Law and Disorder in Philadelphia. A single documentary by Channel Four’s Jon Snow has completed the national broadcasters’ orgy of scrutiny of the violent, racist, and thoroughly disorderly U.S.
Briton Schama has lived in America for many years and can be regarded as an admirer of the U.S., but chose some extraordinarily obscure episodes of history to accentuate its warts. He used the acquisition of Texas as an example of the racism that so many Britons still feel is endemic to the American psyche. ..

I think that is the point...portray the situation as worse here to keep the average brit from desiring a shift to the right in their own country.
Like its Islamic brother nations, Formerly-Great Britain is merely distracting its subjects’ attention away from its own internal problems by targeting America’s flaws. It’s much better for the ruling class that way, old chap.

They do the same thing in canada where I’m originally from. The philosophy in canadian schools is to “demonize America” to cover up their socialist and failing policies. There’s a reason why hockey broadcasts are subsidized by the govt to give people what they want and hope they look the other way.

Well lets cut our ‘cousins’ some slack folks. They look in a mirror, they see really bad teeth for starters....but they get past that and look real hard, and they don’t see ‘England’ let alone ‘Britain’ let alone ‘Empire’.

So...they do this, as an escape from the knowledge of what they once were, and what they’ve become.
But most telling, what they KNOW they will be.
David Cameron? I had no idea. Highly troubling.
Louis Theroux’s shows are NOTORIOUSLY biased against the US......but he did ONE show that was great against Al Sharpton and the Black Panthers.
