I agree. It shouldn’t be all that hard to look better than Obama though, if he continues on this path.

Jim, we got 47.5% of the vote. Where are you getting that 28% figure?

28% of voters self-identify as Republicans.

What to do about SP depends on who you think the independents who voted McCain/Palin were, and what it will take to increase their numbers.

The media terrorist campaign against SP has been very successful. If she wants to stay in the game, she has to fight back.

All I was saying was that it is not that important what Republicans think of Palin - there aren't enough Republicans left to elect anyone to national office.

Ramake her image? Her image is just fine with all the Republicans I know.

I will ditto that. People love her as she is genuine.

True enough, but those figures are quite misleading. (not implying you are)

The problem with the accurate figures, is that it includes many Democrats overall, who never vote. The Democrats register anything that moves. They stand outside businesses and beg people to register. Those folks aren’t motivated, so they don’t show up on election day. The Republicans register those who are truly interested, and take the time to seek out registration. They are much more likely to vote.

So when we address registered voters, the Democrats look great on paper. It’s still my assessment that when you talk about people who actually vote, we’re still looking at something like 40% Republican, 20% independent, and 40% Democrat.

I’m not implying that the Republican party isn’t in need of rebuilding. Going over to the other side, has had a detrimental impact on our party. In this election for instance, I think a lot of folks took a pass on voting for McCain. I will admit that is a gut opinion, rather than something based on an actual study.

I think I spend some time today looking at that issue.
