Filmmakers Take on DC: Obama, Clintons Heros, Palin the Fool
NewsBusters ^ | February 9, 2009 | Warner Todd Huston

Hollywood filmmakers are ruminating about taking on the 2008 political season. Towering personalities, scintillating stories, and epic clashes abound. The stories of the 2008 political campaign are pretty stimulating. We had the aging Democratic establishment in the form of the Clintons taking on the fresh young face in Obama, not to mention the first black candidate of note. We also had a close fought Democratic primary that went to a nail biting finish. On the GOP side we had the amazing emergence of the hockey mom from Alaska. Heartwarming family woman, popular governor, tender mother of a special needs child. A self-made woman from humble beginnings. Seems like some stories that could make for some compelling movies, eh?

So, how is Hollywood looking to treat these incredible stories? Would you be surprised that the Clintons and Obama stories are set for high drama, earnestly told... and Palin's is for comedy and satire? Would it shock you that only Sarah Palin is to be ripped, attacked, made fun of and satirized? I didn't think you would.

Palin will be ridiculed forever...the last thing they want is for her to have the time or opportunity to remake her image. They intend to ‘Dan Quayle’ her all the way.

The funny thing is, hollywood needs us dumb rubs from fly-over to survive. I for one will reduce my entertainment dollar a great deal, so if they continue to patronize me, I guess that’s one less job in hollywood.

Does her “image” really need remade all that much. I don’t want to see her change into someone else.

people love her because of who she is. genuine.

Will fall flat like Stone’s W or Che flick.

Tina Scarfeyce will demand to be given the role... and no wants to see her disfigured face for 90 mins running the same old one-liners of SNL.

Oh sure she does. Palin wasn't allowed to be Palin on the McCain campaign...she tried, and people responded, but she was never given the unfettered ability to shine. After her dynamite convention speech, her interviews were poorly handled, followed by an even more damaging media blackout. She was thus cast by the media and the likes of Tina Fey as the ‘ditzy’ governor who could ‘see Russia from my house.’ If she wants to be president, she'll need to reemerge without the baggage, and they will never allow it.

All she has to do is be herself. and she will succeed.

Tina Fey is meaningless and insignificant

You are quite wrong there. The caricature of Palin created by Fey turned Palin into an unserious object of ridicule for many voters - including many Republicans - much the same way that Chevy Chase's bumbling depiction of Gerald Ford helped pave the way for Carter. You should not underestimate these pop culture influences.

Link below to latest stats on current movies for the weekend. “Milk” comes 21st “Nixon/Frost” 22nd. “Milk” may have a modest financial success, “Nixon/Frost” may be a loser. If you click on the titles it gives an estimated production cost but does not give promotion and other costs.

“The funny thing is, hollywood needs us dumb rubs from fly-over to survive.”

No they don’t...they are getting a bailout from their Messiah Obama with flyover tax dollars. The liberal rag newspapers are getting a bailout from Obama too...NBC/MSNBC/CNBC and every GE propaganda machine is now an unholy owned subsidiary of the DNC!! Immelt is going to work for Obama for cryin out loud!

This is not the ‘ole bias’ going on here. It is a communist/marxist take-over of our country.

Oh come on, the left is going to do what it always does, and we’re going to kick their asses in 2012. Obama is already alienating people around the planet. Give him a few more weeks.

Quite so. The media likes to pigeonhole people into nice neat little categories, for all the talk of “in-depth” interviews and documentaries. Its easier that way, especially on TV, which is becoming faster all the time.

The result is that there are two Sarah Palin’s. The real lady, and the popular image of her. Guess which one most people are familiar with?

> Oh come on, the left is going to do what it always does, and we’re going to kick their asses in 2012.

Three huge assumptions there.

1) The left may not do what it always does
2) The right may not kick their asses in 2012, and the hidden assumption that’s hard to spot at first:
3) You may not get to vote in 2012.

Obama has already demonstrated what he thinks of your Constitution. An he’s only just started, with four long years to do even more.
