Venezuela campaign gets rough
By Simon Romero
Published: February 8, 2009

CARACAS: In the final days before a crucial referendum that will determine whether President Hugo Chávez can run for re-election indefinitely, campaigning has taken on a noticeable, and sometimes ugly, edge.

Antigovernment protests have intensified in some cities, despite government pressure, and pro-Chávez vigilantes have attacked institutions like the Caracas mayor’s office and the Vatican’s diplomatic mission.

This is Chávez’s second try in less than two years at extending his rule, which he says is necessary to continue the socialist-inspired revolution that he began here a decade ago.

Citgo ran an ad during the Virginia Tech basketball game this afternoon pushing their Venezuelan fuel oil giveaway program. Knowing what we know about Venezuela, it was eerie.

No joke. My ultra liberal sister-in-law admires Chavez and thinks we should go the same route.

Like the messiah, Chavez is trying to undo presidential term limits.

The left is peopled with unscrupulous snakes.

You should see the nauseating ads that Joe Kennedy is running around here about his Citizens Energy Corporation or whatever the hell he calls it.

Praising Chavez and the Venezualan people for the "help" they're giving the huge dependency class here in Maine with their heating oil.

I swear, Leni Riefenstahl could have produced it.

I saw Joe Kennedy in a photo on the Citgo website when I was there looking for the ad I referenced. I’m all for helping people down on their luck, but the Chavez program is intentionally creating dependency. Anytime this particular group of socialists is involved, I question their motives.

The Kennedys' stock in trade is creating a permanent dependency class ("Please, Big Government Democrats - help me!")

Maine is so dysfunctional and free-market averse that if it weren't for the federal government handouts it gets, it would have imploded years ago.

Joe Kennedy knows an easy touch when he sees it.

They're America-hating snakes and if it weren't for the fortune handed down to them by the Nazi-sympathizing old Joe, they'd all standing in line at the local homeless shelter begging for porridge.

The left are a vermin that often flourish when normally honest and thinking people are led astray by their lies and offers of free stuff. Most of these people will sit out the
coming war between honest Americans and the leftist trash.

The way the left are stealing elections may hasten the
coming of this war. We have 2-4 years to get our country back on track before the smoke and fog make war inevitable.
