Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said on Sunday he'll vote against President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill, calling the legislation “generational theft” in an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”
“I thought we were going to have change," he said, in a shot at Obama's campaign slogan, "and that change meant we work together. This is a setback. This is a setback to all Americans because you promised Americans we’d work in a more bipartisan fashion, and that certainly is not the case in this bill,” McCain said.
McCain said the bill would saddle Americans with billions in future debt, and contained protectionist provisions that could be damaging to the economy.
“We’re going to amass the largest debt in the history of this country by any measurement, and we’re going to ask our kids and grandkids to pay for it,” McCain said.
“I know we’re in trouble. I know America needs a stimulus, we need tax cuts, we need to spend money on infrastructure and other programs that will put people to work. But this is not it.”

This is about today, the future of our country and a philosophy that says you don't bankrupt a country with trillion dollar pork bills. I don’t know if you were around or an adult during the Carter years but his ineptitude, that is being surpassed by Obama, is what brought us Reagan. Absent that, no way in hell would Reagan have been elected, so thank GOD for Carter. Folks in 1980 didn’t so much vote FOR Reagan as AGAINST Carter. In 1984 they voted FOR Reagan.
However, reviewing the countless primary threads that were posted here last year, I’m not even too sure Reagan would have gotten the 1980 nomination. There is always a horde that will find flaw with each Republican who puts his/her hat in the ring. Then they will pick, pick, pick until there’s only a carcass left.
Why good people would step forward and enter the public arena of politics is beyond me.
According to a post yesterday, McNut and his homosexual friend, Graham, told Obama they were going to screech and scream against it but not to believe them. They were doing it to get votes from the conservatives and nothing more.

In other words, he's doing just what he did in the past election: making sure that legitimate conservative voices are throughly drowned out.
I hope you are happy now that we see Obama everyday in the White House rather than McCain.
If that's what it takes to piss off conservatives so they actually fight instead of acting like sheep, then so be it.
As of right now, I expect Islam to lay relatively low until we withdraw. Then there will be a blood bath and all the Iraqis and Afghanis that helped us will be butchered. That's the reason it was so difficult to get support. They'd seen us cut and run before. It's going to happen again.
So did the RNC. So did everyone who supported McCain in the primaries.
I don't recall anybody on this thread saying "Republicans are always good". Why do you set up such a stupid strawman fallacy?

And you are free to go sit and spin. It is not my job to vote for your favorite socialist. It is my job to vote for and support the best man for the position. That is in no way John "The Traitorous Bastard" McCain. Nor is it granted to the Republican party to own the exclusive and primary right to my vote and to my support. That is mine to give as I see fit, and I will not give it to charlatans and scoundrels, no matter how much you may wish it were otherwise.
Basically, yes. I don’t think he actively tries to drown out conservative voices. I think he just wants it to be about him so DeMint’s bill was competition. McCain couldn’t define conservatism, socialism or any other political ideology to save his life. He has no idea what those things mean. Literally. Seriously!
I believe he is incorrect. We're going to collapse the financial system and God knows what will happen after that. We do not have the ability to pay for this, anymore than a penguin can pay for a Mercedes. At best, we'll wipe the board, savings will be out the window, financial institutions will collapse, and imports/exports will cease to exist. Hopefully, we can develop manufacturing within the country, otherwise we'll learn to do without. Many suburbs will become ghost towns, and you'll see a lot more squatters in vacant buildings.
And McCain supports that, just a couple hundred billion less than Obama's porkfest.
McCain needs to get off his Big Government philosophy and quit enabling the leftists.
Yes, it is. Because it won't be long before he turns right back around in the name of partisanship. If this were a one time occurrence, then yes, you would be correct. But it isn't. He's done this sort of thing before.
This isn't so much a revelatory "I've finally seen the light" as it is McCain's realization that complaining gets him face time with his buddies in the media. It simply cannot be. In the last year, McCain has been:
for the bailout of Bear-Sterns
for the bailout of upside-down mortgage owners to the tune of 300 billion dollars
for the first massive bailout
With that history, there is no possible way that this is sincere.
When standing in opposition is no longer the ticket to fame and glory, McCain will be right back to talking about such fascinating topics as :

McCain actually said something good here, and all you can do is continue petty, petulant rants against him. When he says something good, at least admit it.

There was no way to vote for Palin in Virginia without voting for McCain.
It is my understanding that write-ins are not allowed unless the candidate is pre-registered with the state.
And I will not support McCain, no matter who runs with him.
