Why There Wont Be a Revolution
Americans might get angry sometimes, but we don't hate the rich. We prefer to laugh at them.
The poor you will always have, the good book says, but as for the rich man, he will wither away like a delicate flower in the midday sun.
The first prediction has certainly been borne out, but the second part (James 1:11) had not yet come to pass by the Panic of 1907, when Theodore Roosevelt warned of a coming reckoning against the "malefactors of great wealth."
Nor by 1990, when former Nixon aide Kevin Phillips predicted that Americans would rise to extract revenge on "the rich who got the benefits of the go-go years" of the 1980s.
As late as 2001, no less an authority than, uh, NEWSWEEK wrote in the wake of 9/11 that "the arrogant wheeler-dealer ordering a $600 bottle of wine with dinner has vanished utterly as an icon," which remained true until approximately 2002.
Well, listen up, you rich guys, this time we really mean it. The president himself is repelled by your rapacious greed, your kids are ashamed to admit that their mom is a banker, even your girlfriends are sick of your whining about your bonus, and you're going to have to learn to live on $500,000 a year like a normal person.
Oh, and by the way, nice watch. Is it Cartier?

As I recall, the oath is to support and defend the Constitution, not "the country as it is". If "as it is" is in gross violation of the Constitution, well all bets are off. Why do you think The One wants to cut the military and bring on his "civilian defense corps"? You can bet their oath won't be to support and defend the Constitution.
How to explain 1775 then? Sure sometimes things were tough, but the colonies were generally prosperous. There are other reasons for revolutions. Especially successful ones. The "bread and circuses", or lack thereof, revolutions tend to end with even worse folks in charge.
Ours ended differently, because it's causes were different.
I know that a lot of them paid in at capped levels that were far far
lower than today and are voting to get more and more.
I also know there are more than a few that abuse handicapped
rights. Because the first point is fact and the second is seen too
many times, you call me asshole. You must be one of them.
“but youre deluding yourself if you think your generation will pull us back from socialism.”
I agree with you there. I don’t think the boomers are going to pull us back from socialism. It’s going to take all generations. I guess we can stereotype each generation, but it’s not entirely accurate.
I think you're right. We would expect to gain by being rid of their dead weight. They would expect to gain by being rid of our archaic values. Who would object (except a power tripping community organizer who wants to rule over as many people as possible)?
Let’s hope so...everyone will win.
But they said "diversity" was good. They said that giving us all labels and making us hyphenated-Americans would bring us closer together. They said that replacing racial discrimination against blacks, hispanics, and Indians with racial discrimination in favor of those groups would bring us together. They said that rewriting the Bible to remove limitations on sexual expression would bring us closer to what God really meant. Surely you're not telling us that the Political Correctness liberals lied, are you?
I agree, And I’m getting ready to teach that very idea to my family!
Sorry, Ben, but we couldn't keep it.
I don’t think we have a year or two. At the rate the Obama Train is moving, we’ll barely be able to recgnize this country in 6 months, and I fear if there is any sort of true national emergency it’ll finally push people over the edge. Think “Gird your loins....”
"Gross violation of the Constitution?" I'm sorry, but where is the modern "Private First Class Constitutional Scholar," or "Chief/Specialist Bill of Rights History."
In an emergency, as I stated, there won't be time to dither.
Soldiers will do their duty as the pilots flying CAP over Washington on 9/11 would have correctly done, and by God, they would have shot down flight 93 and killed American citizens.
Yes they would have, and yes they should have, and no, that was not clearly Constitutional as it was not a declared war/rebellion, etc.
Of course our military is not going to consciously tear down our country, nor follow Obama into Marxism....but guess what...on 9/10 we couldn't imagine what was about to happen, and it was a mere walk-through of what a nuclear terror attack (or worse, a precipitated made-up disaster by the Obama CIA?)
It's mainly the officers that are supposed to know about such things. Our oath contained no "obey orders" provision.

There is a big difference between a short term emergency and a long term tryanny.

It need not be one. It was a clear threat to the country, and orders to shoot it down would have been completely legal. It was an attack on the country, albeit by unconventional forces using unconventional means. Those folks were going to die anyway. The DC Air Guard pilots were prepared to ram if need be, as they were not properly armed for shooting down an aircraft (they only had light practice ammo for their 20mm and no live missiles). Not hardly the same as being sent house to house to confiscate weapons. As far as a "made up" nuclear or CBW emergency goes, who do you think would be tasked with determining the source of such an attack. The National Guard and the Army in the case of a CBW attack, and the Air Force in case of a nuclear attack. You think the fact that the bomb materials came from Savanah river could be kept secret, at least within the military? I don't think so.
At that point we'd have to hope, and I think it would be a justified hope, that the US military has half the honor of the Turkish military.
