.- The College Democrats at George Washington University have expelled one of their members after the unidentified student stole and defaced a number of crosses used in a Young America’s Foundation (YAF) pro-life display.
On the evening of Jan. 26 members of the College Republicans found the crosses scattered around the office they share with the College Democrats, the campus newspaper The Hatchet reports.
One cross was pinned upside down on a bulletin board and draped with a condom. Another featured a depiction of Jesus on the cross with the words “pwned” and “lol,” internet lingo for “owned” and “laughing out loud.”
The other crosses were inscribed with the words “Darwin,” “take a condom” and “Amelia West,” who is vice president of the Campus Democrats.
Brandon Hines, communication director for the College Republicans, told The Hatchet that he first saw the crosses during his office hours on Monday night. Pictures were taken and later appeared on conservative filmmaker Pat Dollard’s blog.
A New York-area church had donated the crosses to YAF to commemorate the anniversary of Roe v. Wade in a display on campus.
YAF president Rob Lockwood called the action “completely inappropriate.”
“It’s private property and disrespectful on a number of levels. If they want to do that in their apartment they would have the right to, but these were on display in a public student office.”
A Jan. 29 statement from the College Democrats said that a member of their group had apologized for the vandalism and was expelled from the organization, the Hatchet reports. The member was not named in the statement.
“We would never as an organization sanction such reprehensible conduct and we are tremendously upset that the organization's trust was violated by a member who chose to act otherwise," the statement said.
According to The Hatchet, West also commented in an e-mail:
“A simple apology is not enough to make up for the feelings of those affected and we ask all to realize that our organization has been hurt by this too… And now is the time for us to come together - Democrats, Republicans, believers of all faiths - and bring healthy closure to this incident while embracing the tenets of respect in this academic community."
Lockwood said the vandalism was reported to the university police department and the crosses are now in the department’s custody.
University spokeswoman Tracy Schario said the student responsible for the action has been identified by the school and will face disciplinary action.

Say what?? They'd have the right to display the stolen and vandalized crosses in their apartment? It's only wrong because this was done in a public place?

Last time I checked, Jesus (the One whose feelings would have been affected) was quite happy to take a simple apology if it was heart-felt and sincere.

Self-inflicted injury that ought to be punished as such. And probably will be, God Willing.

Better still, just bring closure to the sin of abortion and nevermind this incident. That's a much better outcome for everybody.

I often think our slaughter of innocents grieves the Lord as much as anything else we do. I have noticed recently the increased attacks by some Pro-Choice groups, I wonder how long it will be before they become openly violent? I do know this: My God will hear the cries of the innocent, and He will not be mocked. We will feel His wrath. May He have mercy on us.

I’ll give 2-1 odds the perp was one of the following:
A) A co-ed ‘majoring’ in Wymyn and Gender Studies;
B) A scrawny, emo-type guy who goes by some stupid nickname like “Weed”;
C) A transgendered transsexual hermaphrodite known only as “Phred.”
When Christian or conservative displays are defaced it is always done by campus liberals. When black, Jewish, feminist, etc. displays are defaced it is always done by... campus liberals (usually by a Jew scrawling a swastika, a black scrawl;ing the n-word or a female scrawling something or other on their own property.
What is wrong with these people? Are they such sheep? Have they been brainwashed so successfully by the anti-European and anti-Christian ideology and rhetoric that they must invent their own little ‘hate crime’ to prove their worth and status as victims?
I will be shocked if the perpetrator here faces any harsh penalty. Something equally stupid and mean done by a campus conservative, if one could find an instance where that took place, would result in immediate expulsion and three days worth of candlelight vigils and a massive re-education campaign.

The perp should not only be expelled from the College Democrats but GWU as well .. and the ‘disciplinary action’ should involve a period at St.E’s (the mental hospital in DC where they sent Hinckley). He or she is very one sick person.
How is it this wasn’t in the WaPo and on all the net news programs ? It occurred 1/26 and this is the first story written about it ? Did I miss something ?
Of course Jesus forgives all, my friend. But His forgiveness is received only by the repentant; and the signs of a repentant heart are confession, and at least the resolve never to commit this sin again, and an attempt to offer make-whole restitution for the damage done.
If a man breaks my front window, I will forgive him but he will still have to buy me a new window. If he's repentant, he would want to. He would insist upon it. If a man spits in my face, and repents, he will be even more anxious, even driven, to "make things right" with me.
In this case, a repentant heart would show its renewal through a restoration of the property (the crosses, cleansed of any trace of vandalism) and some sign of reverence for Life and for the Creator of Life. I don't see that here.
Nothing new here. For a while in the Twin Cities Pro Life Across America billboards were being defaced. At about the same time a private citizen who had pro-life signs on his own property also found his signs defaced. But then that’s Minnesota Democrats.
How about hanging the culprits..lead by example.
