Solis Senate Session Postponed in Wake of Husband's Tax Lien Revelations
Washington Compost ^

A Senate committee today abruptly canceled a session to consider President Obama's nomination of Rep. Hilda Solis to be labor secretary in the wake of a report saying that her husband yesterday paid about $6,400 to settle tax liens against his business -- liens that had been outstanding for as long as 16 years. The report, by USA Today, came just before the Senate's Health Education Labor and Pensions Committee was slated to meet to consider Solis's nomination, which had been delayed by questions over her role on the board of the pro-labor organization American Rights at Work. A source said that committee members did not learn about the tax issue until today.

...Don't any of Democrats pay taxes?
No wonder they are always for 'tax and spend' government. They don't pay taxes - they just spend...

What’s the over/under on when Tax Cheat Geithner resigns?

How can the man POSSIBLY stay — as head of our taxing agency, for goodness’ sake — when other cabinet members withdrew for exactly the same problem?

LOL...this must be BO’s Government Employment for Tax Cheats Program, which is just about as successful as his Porkulus Bill.

I feel bad for all the comedians — after all, Obama and his team are so perfect, there’s just NOTHING to make fun of! [/s]

You beat me to it. Does every one of Obama’s nominees have tax problems? Do any Democrats pay their taxes?

Can you imagine the uproar from the MSM/liberals/radicals if Bush’s nominees, one after another, all had these tax problems????

Where's the re-do on Geithner? He's the poster boy (Rangle is a close second) for all of these tax scandals, and the most egregious as Treasury Secretary.

It's interesting how reporters can vet a nominee and hit paydirt but the president with all the resources of the federal government can't do the same.

If the feds' investigatory skills are this weak, how do they expect to catch the jihadis among us?

Dayum! That’s going to put a damper on Congressional festivities.

From a Senate staffer:

I just heard that the reason we’re trying to wrap up this bill by tomorrow is that there is a CODEL to Germany [for the annual Munich Security Conference]. Wheels up sometime around 6 p.m. out of Andrews. We’re going to let this thing go without making them take tough votes because a group of Senators wants to take a ride on the taxpayer overseas. We should call it the $800 billion plane ride. We should be debating this thing all week and make Reid shut us down. The more this hangs out there, the worse it smells to the American people. We are a sad excuse for a minority.

The Munich Security Conference is the Davos of the defense and national security world. It takes place Feb. 6-8.

Mr. Obama will head to Kingsmill Resort and Spa in the historical Virginia city to start a three-day planning session. The resort boasts multiple championship golf courses, a full-service spa and six restaurants, noted the Hill newspaper, which broke the story about the Democratic retreats.

Democrats will ride together to the resort on a chartered Amtrak train at a cost to taxpayers of about $70,000, the Hill reported. Taxpayers will also foot the bill for security helicopters to fly above the train. The caucus will spend thousands: In 2003, for example, they spent $11,200 on food and $6,900 on entertainment, the paper said.

Wake up! Her husband’s tax problems are not the reason the vote is being postponed. They are running the tax scheme as cover.

The vote is postponed because she was a treasurer for a pro union lobbyist group as a member of the house and helped draft and bring forward the Employee Free Choice Act.

She is a true Marxist and needs to be stopped. She is being nominated as the secretary of the Department of Labor for crying out loud. Anyone who owns a business needs to fight her nomination tooth and nail.
