...all for one year. I am so sick of this... a tax cut is temporary... a tax increase is forever. Yuck!
This will stimulate people to continue to hoard their cash ahead of next years' tax increases.

The package put forward by McCain
Read the fine print. If McCain has anything to do with it, read the fine print.

"It centered on cutting in half a 6.2 percent payroll tax on employees, cutting the corporate tax rate to 25 percent from 35 percent and lowering the bottom two income tax brackets to 10 percent and 5 percent, all for one year." See tagline. I've been recommending something similar for about 4 days.

President Bush's tax cuts made permanent would solve triple the issues that this politically motivated one year debacle of lawful tripe would create.

“$11 billion to prevent home foreclosures”
Those all need to die anyway. However, one must remember this proposed by McCain who cares deeply about the illegal problem in this country.

While I disagree with this whole pork package, this is a smart move. The GOP shouldn't vote on anything that exceeds this amount and then yell to the top of their lungs that the Rats are blowing taxpayer's money way beyond what is really needed when it does exceed that amount.

It’s still too much. What pantywaists, more stupid grandstanding.

A tax cut, as proposed by the Republicans, is at least a stimulus- which is more than could be said for the Democrat “stimulus”.
Reducing the rates on cap gains and the top tax brackets would give the bill a lot more punch and be a lot more worthwhile.

IMHO, we don't need another stimulus package....just cut spending by more than we cut taxes....and cut taxes NOW...that's all we need...outside an energy policy that focuses on exploiting our own natural resources...
Fiscal responsibility, sound tax policy, and a free market are all we need with little government intervention other than some oversite,.....is all we need....
Yes, in the short term it may hurt....but in the long term...we will be much better off...
But what do I know....appears the congress critters are the experts....their track record speaks for itself...
