LOS ANGELES, February 2, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Actor Gary Graham knew that by writing about his personal experience and rejection of abortion, he would be incurring the ire of not a few among the Hollywood elite.
Yet a blog column posted last Tuesday by the seasoned actor, known most recently for his roles as Ambassador Soval in the TV series "Star Trek: Enterprise" and Capt. Ingles on "J.A.G.", took an unflinching look at truths almost entirely ignored by those in the Hollywood establishment.
"Im going to say what millions know in the front of their brains, and many, many more millions know in the depths of their hearts but wont allow themselves to think it, much less feel it," wrote Graham. "And believe me, I know Ill be hated for saying it, Ill be hated by people who dont know me, have never worked with me, have never golfed with me, had a drink with me.
"Im going to say it anyway: Abortion is murder."
Graham described the irresponsibility of his youth that made abortion the convenient option for a drug-fueled, free-love lifestyle. He confessed to having paid for multiple abortions for girlfriends, observing that abortion sure took the pressure off of me, a guy, interested in sex who had been raised in the era of, Hey, you get a girl pregnant, you marry her! But then, he says, a "spiritual awakening" brought him to a "tearful epiphany of what it meant for a man to be with a woman, what sex was really designed for by our Creator and what abortion is.
"I truly wish that I had had this conviction way back when when I was only concerned about my selfish convenience of the day," wrote Graham. "But I didnt want to know, I didnt want to think about it. It was inconvenient to think about it."
He noted that the widespread acceptance of abortion "says volumes of how our entire culture has been coarsened," and "How life itself has been cheapened.
"We are told to have sex any time we feel the urge. Condoms are handed out in grade schools. Promiscuity is not only condoned, its tacitly encouraged ... But if you should get pregnant and its just not a convenient time for you, dont worry, there are Family Planning Services. ... That inconvenient fetus can be surgically ripped from its uterine moorings, ground up and tossed into the trash like so much garbage.
"Problem solved, and the mother can resume her egocentric lifestyle. But the scars on that womans soul will never quite heal. Im a man, but Ive got them on mine."
Responding to those who call for abortion to be "legal but rare," Graham asked, "Why rare?
"Whats wrong with abortion, that you think it should be a rare occurrence? Ive had moles removed from my skin. Doctors dont tell us that a mole removal should be rare. So whats with this rare business? Or is it a tacit agreement that abortion is plain wrong?
"Try this exercise: Every time you hear someone use the phrase ' a womans right to choose ' mentally complete the phrase with the following words ' to kill her baby.' Thats what the arguments about. A womans right to kill her baby."

Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment
Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.
Wow!
BREAKING! Pro-life, devout Catholic named new RNC chair!
Opinion: Michael Steele, Black, Pro-Life Catholic Takes the Helm of the G.O.P.
Catholic Michael Steele (former seminarian) takes over leadership of RNC
Reach out to them as sinners, but hate the sin. Isn’t that what Steele is talking about?
And THAT is why, I betcha, they reacted the way they did to Sarah Palin. How many of them chose to kill their babies because of some probability of a birth defect or less than perfect child? But Sarah didn't. She showed that you don't have to chose to kill, you can chose to love and sacrifice. She brought them face-to-face with their selfishness and their crime (in God's eyes, abortion is a crime). They don't want to admit that. They would have to have said they were wrong.
They hated Sarah because otherwise they would have had to admit their own sin and look for a Savior whom they have denied.
>> Its becoming clearer to me by the day that the ONLY hope for the GOP is with Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal.
I watched the video of the interview to its end. Steele clearly stated he’s interested in the 80% that represents common ground, but not the 20% where disagreements on moral issues exist.
We have men and women, gay and/or pro-choice, who fight and die for this Country. Can we not include them in the 80%?
>> But then, he says, a “spiritual awakening” brought him to a “tearful epiphany of what it meant for a man to be with a woman, what sex was really designed for by our Creator and what abortion is.
Damn, why do some people need a “spiritual awakening” to respect the flesh of innocence?
Wow! Thank you Mr. Graham.
A decent man stands up in the face of evil. Lets pray it’s the beginning of a trend.
“He seems to be quite aware just how out of touch Hollyweird is with the rest of the country.”
That’s for sure!
And if only fools are kind, Alfie,
Then I guess its wise to be cruel.
And if life belongs only to the strong, Alfie,
What will you lend on an old golden rule?
As sure as I believe
there's a heaven above, Alfie,
I know there's something much more,
Something even non-believers can believe in.
I believe in love, Alfie.
Without true love we just exist,
Alfie.
Until you find the love you've missed
You're nothing, Alfie.
When you walk
let your heart lead the way
And you'll find love any day,
Alfie, Alfie.

ONE NATION UNDER GOD
wagglebee, I agree!
Sadly the GOP seems to be going the way of most churches - to fill seats they water down their message - it doesn’t fill many seats but it makes the leaders feel like they are doing something - and after all we are desperate aren’t we (barf). If Conservatives stuck to their roots and churches stuck to the Gospel they might offend a few at first but the would eventually be overflowing! Most leaders like their little slice of power though and they think they are so much wiser than the rest of us plebs - a hatchet must be taken to the top so the grass can grow underneath.

The surgical procedure for this is not even considered an abortion procedure. It is simply the medically legitimate excising of a diseased and life-threatening section of an organ (a piece of the Fallopian tube) with the unintended side-effect that the baby cannot survive.
It is not an attack on the baby, and actually, if it were possible to re-implant the embryonic child at a different site (for instance, by somehow stimulating nidation at the fundus of the uterus) it would probably be morally obligatory to try to do so.
In any case, that's a technical option that seems to be beyond the scope of our medical arts --- for now. The intention must always be to try to save both mother and baby IF it is possible to do so.
My daughter had a tubal pregnancy. She tried to carry the baby but when faced with the imminent death of her and the baby we chose, with her, to save her life.
If it was too soon and the preemie baby dies, you at least know that you tried to save both. And that's just what most pregnant mothers want: they want the doctor to make a good-faith effort to save them both, understanding that the outcome is never certain.

I have been listening to Steele for years. In my experience he has always stood firmly against homosexual marriage and abortion. Please cite your sources.
I could explain if I could draw one of those Y-shaped diagrams, know what I mean? But I can't even find one of those I can link to on the internet.
