well gee... that ought to help... keep 0bama and the dems in control
i’d swear, the people at the top of the RNC have no idea how things work. they think they can co-opt the liberal message, big tent it, and then the GOP is all things to all people.
only problem is, the vast majority of the US doesn’t like the left... and they just don’t bother to vote as the ‘leaders’ being promoted by the right are not inspiring.
put Sarah on a stage, and you’ll see someone that has been there and is living the example... thereby speaking for the people on the right... and then you’ll start to see real crowds come out to vote
The profound words of Ronald Reagan at the Conservative Political Action Conference Feb. 15, 1975:
A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency or simply to swell its numbers.
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
We tried “reaching out”.
Doesn’t work.
Core conservative convictions do.
Reagan proved that.
This is very discourging news.
RINOs must be dealt with or 2010 will be very disappointing.
I fear the lessons were not learned.
Why? You don’t think there are gays who are basically Republican? I lean pro-choice...but it’s not my big issue...does that mean I’m not welcome in the Republican Party?
In answer to the title:
Yeah, both of them.
Roughly 90 million eligible voters stayed home last November, and I suspect many of them were conservatives. Who will reach out to them?
Maybe when Sarah Palin starts cuddling up to him (which she’s probably already started), the Palin worshippers on FR will finally get a clue.
Think conservative not Republican or you will be disappointed by the party.
Well Mr. Mike... go help the gays repeal the voters in California... maybe you all can start your own gay wedding chapels.
Maybe I’m missing something but what’s wrong with trying to reach out to other groups? Weren’t people on here not long ago saying how we needed to educate more minorities and other groups on what the Republican Party stands for? The Republican party =/= Conservative Party. Like it or not, we’ve got to get the White House out of control of the Dims. Each political party has their factions, and lets face it, the MSM has painted the social conservative base to be something it’s not. If the Republican party pushes fiscal conservatisim (no bailouts), no expansion of government, and national security, they can easily win next cycle.
As much as I would love to see the social conservative bloc do better, there’s not many left in the either House or Senate. Pledging to not vote or w/e is only admitting defeat and basically giving four more years to that POS B.O.
There are more important immediate things than getting upset at someone who’s trying to gain numbers. If you don’t like what he’s doing or have a better suggestion, why not email him? Chairman@gop.com for your convenience.
And if this post gets me banned from FR, well, I enjoyed my stay.
This is entirely the wrong approach and I strongly disagree with Steele. Most disappointing.
Blackwell should have won.
Leave the gays and lesbians do what they do on the left side. There is no place for them with the GOP.
We don’t have to win over these types. We can triumph witnout them if we just don’t abandon or water down our conservative principles. Whitman? Give me a break! Big tent, be damned!
Affirmative action, pro abortion, anti gun, I guess he may as well come out in support of the queer agenda.
This doesn't surprise me a bit.
Don't say you weren't warned.
A lot of us were sounding the alarm about his liberal positions on abortion and gun control and affirmative action, but nobody wanted to hear that.
Well, Michael Steele has shown his true colors.
I'm not surprised. I'm just surprised that it took so long.
Figure on an 8 year Obama deal.
I hadn’t read the article fully. The moment the GOP reaches out to any group that is not pro-life, will be the end of the party. Any direction of the GOP away from life and conservatism is a deal breaker for me.
