WASHINGTON -- Senator John McCain says there's too much unnecessary spending and too few tax cuts in the Obama administration's economic proposals to stimulate the economy.
The Arizona Republican and former presidential candidate also complains the plan has no "endgame."
Interviewed Monday on CBS's "The Early Show," McCain said that after the economy recovers the U.S. should "be on a path to a balanced budget."
Instead, he says, the Democrats' plan would burden future generations of Americans with the biggest budget deficit in history.
He says it's time for both parties to sit down and negotiate. He says the Democrats need to consider his party's concerns, especially on cutting taxes.

Insanity is abandoning the most conservative, viable, alternatives in a series of elections, then bitching about the disaster which ensues.

I held my nose and voted for McCain. Still it’s my fault he lost.

"Shut up and go away! McCain was a wimp during the whole time and now he has something to say about the spending bills!" Wow...such vitriol! Are you sure you meant for ME to be the recipient of your vitriolic sting? My question is quite harmless if you care to go back and look...

You have no standards, Cedric. It's because of relativistic beliefs like yours that the Republican Party has allowed the leftists to drag it further and further leftward, into the abyss of Big Government, where it has been thoroughly gutted and disemboweled.

You wanted this poopy sandwich....No, Cedric, what I wanted was steak instead of RINO poo.
What I wanted was for the Republican Party to stop serving up sh*t and telling me to eat it with my bare hands.
Do you know what happens when you piss off your customer like that? The customer picks up the plate of poo and shoves it in your face. And...that's exactly what I did.

“I held my nose and voted for McCain. Still its my fault he lost.”
No, it’s NOT!
The reason McCain lost is because he has all the charisma of a rock, and even SO he might have won if he hadn’t muzzled Palin, said there was “nothing to fear” about Obama being in office and generally acted like an idiot with half his marbles missing.
The reason McCain lost is because he’s McCAIN.
I wish he had resigned his Senate seat to run for office - at least then we could have had the consolation of never having to hear from him again.

If we purist had our way, we wouldn't have the wannabes in there just nibbling, we'd be running the show with some real conservatives.
The fact that we have wannabes in there "nibbling" is what we were against in the first place.

I am happy that McCain at least had the opportunity to go on television and give a reasonable response to this boondoggle. It may not be exactly what everyone on this site wants, but it is a moderately conservative view point....too much spending and not enough tax cuts. We don't get much air time on these programs and at least this was an opportunity to explain why this porkalooza bill should be flamed, not each other.

He failed utterly in his (idiotic) strategy of courting “moderates”. That is the insanity party elites keep repeating.

If he resigned his senate seat he would have become a lobbyist and ended up getting appointed to something by Zero.

But, conservatives gotta start winning more elections.
