Gillibrand Takes Early Lead For Gobbledygook Of The Year

Sure, it’s early yet. Only the first day of February. Lots of time for someone to overtake her. But let’s recognize that Kirsten Gillibrand has taken the lead for the worst piece of political gobbledygook of this young year.

As per the Associated Press, here’s what the newly-anointed senator from New York, billed as a “conservative” Democrat, had to say after emerging from a meeting with Latino leaders who had been peeved about her immigration policies:

"We need to recognize the heritage that the immigrant community has provided to this country and put policies in place that will reflect that core value."

Say what?

LOL, Mark. I read that sentence earlier today and I thought to myself that she has captured well the essence of DC talk.

She should do fine.

I was going to tell you that the Finkelblog was pretty crisp for a new venture.

However, without detracting from your excellent presentation, I just tried to go there, and I got a page load error (8:58 pm EDT). What, you streaming the Super Bowl on your site? ;-)

Sorry about that: we’re having some server issues that we’re working to overcome. Please hang in there with us.

I am all for legal immigrants who are more productive than the average citizen. I am also for limits on number of immigrants because of assimilation problems. I am categorically against illegal immigrants.

My positions are not all that complicated, and are based on
the most benefit to the country. Immigrants such as Werner Von Braun are so valuable as he was one of the reasons for American success in space. We could use a million Von Brauns.

In order for America to be great again, she needs to stop importing poverty and terrorism. How are we going to concentrate solving the problems of our own poor, when we keep adding to their numbers? Defies common sense.

There are plenty of people in the world who are smarter, more educated and RICHER than average American. I see not a damn thing wrong encouraging them to immigrate here.

Poor & uneducated people? We certainly don’t need them.

I wish republicans and democrats who go on the defensive about immigration would not allow their detractors to conflate legal immigration and illegal immigration.

Just respond to questioners with something simple, like:

“I support all of our laws, including immigration laws, and I welcome legal immigrants. I also support enforcement of our laws against all lawbreakers and criminals. Do you support lawbreakers and criminals?”
