It's the Kanye West test, you see.
Where is FEMA? That's the question rural southerners are asking. Or would be asking if their lips weren't frozen shut.
At least 42 people have died, including 11 in Kentucky, and conditions are worsening in many places days after an ice storm knocked out power to 1.3 million customers from the Plains to the East Coast. About a million people were still without electric Friday, and with no hope that the lights will come back on soon, small communities are frantically struggling to help their residents.
The death toll may be higher already, Grayson County Emergency Management Director Randell Smith indicates there are many people they just haven't been able to get to. "We don't even know that they're alive," said Smith, who also indicated that the National Guard showed up without even chainsaws to clear fallen trees from the roads.
Across the stricken area, local officials are increasingly upset at the lack of assistance from the Federal Government. As Tim Blair puts it, "according to the Katrina template, this is all Obama's fault." Right, Kanye?

There's a pattern here ~
Guess we’re just going to have to send some of our own $$$ to Kentucky Salvation Army’s and churches while we still can.
Didn’t you know the Super Bowl and the Porkulus bill are more important?
Best guess that states that didn’t vote Obama will be ignored by this admimistration and their lapdog media.
Whoa...that shoe fits....be careful..we don’t want the MSM to see this trend..
0bozo says: You can’t have an ice storm in the age of global warming.
Zer0 and his fellow racists hate white Americans and hope all of us/them freeze to death.
Please explain how 1.8 Million folks can get to Washington DC in zero degree Weather and a couple of hundred thou can’t leave New Orleans in 85 degree weather.
Jimmied Carter's infamous FEMA is only to be used to house and feed forever those cities whose population is largely African as those residents are incapable of self-help.
Where is President Obama?
Perhaps someone could interrupt one of his lavish dinner parties to let him know that people are dying across the South.
President Bush was excoriated by the leftists and the media for sharing a bite of McCain’s birthday cake while FEMA was bumbling Katrina. Here The Hussein is going to be hosting a Super Bowl party while the people of Kentucky freeze and we won’t hear one snarky remark from the press.
I was wondering why I—ONE was not responding to the ice storm troubles.... you nailed it. We are not allowed to have an ice-storm in the middle of a global warming scheme....er disaster.
Mark Steyn wrote an article on this phenomenon (not the particular Kentucky situation) just recently. He observed that states and municipalities have chosen to rely on Federal disaster aid and FEMA rather than budget and prepare locally for conditions that are likely to occur.
While this means politicians can spend on more politically-helpful projects, it also means the locals are up a creek if the Feds don’t come through as expected. Hopefully this will be a wakeup call for the next place to be hit by a meteorological emergency.
We all remember KATRINA!
Who cares? Does anyone really believe all the ice would melt and the power come back on if The One choppered into Louisville for a photo-op?
where are Shep Smith and Geraldo, standing out there in Kentucky in Elmer Fudd hats, reporting on the hour about the lack of FEMA help?
Where is CNN, carryng interviews with Kentucky’s crying governors and senators in their war room?
where is the drive by media, bashing the President for not personally saving all these lives?
Will all these critics be reporting tonight from Super Bowl parties?
Not a single word from the High Temple of His Vastness. I suppose the American Citizens in the area do not appreciate His Magnificence's faith in them to recover from this disaster on their own.
Øbama Hussein The Magnificent oration from above, dated Jan 31 (today).
All about getting his commie Bill passed. Not a single word about the disaster victims.
True colors shining through...
