Critic [fmr commander USS Cole] Attacks New Gitmo Policy

The former commander of the U.S.S. Cole — which was attacked by terrorists off the coast of Yemen in 2000 — has slammed President Obama's orders to close the Guantanamo detention center and re-evaluate its prisoners.

Retired Navy Commander Kirk Lippold says, "We shouldn't make policy decisions based on human rights and legal advocacy groups. We should consider what is best for the American people, which is not to jeopardize those who are fighting the War on Terror or even more adversely impact the families who have already suffered losses as a result of the war."

Lippold also reacted to Thursday's decision by a military judge to reject the administration's request to delay next week's arraignment of the man charged with orchestrating the Cole bombing. In an interview with McClatchy Newspapers, he called it "a victory for the 17 families of the sailors who lost their lives."

I am glad that there are a few outstanding Conservatives out there who get it.

However, since when have the democrats ever given a damn about National Security?

First, these bastards shut down the prison at Gitmo.

And now, while in the midst of two wars and an escalation of events in the Koreas, the democrat jackasses are cutting DOD spending by 11%?

The contempt the Clinton administration had for those Americans who serve in the military—the people who make everything else in this country possible—has been transplanted in its entirety into the Obama administration. No shock, seeing how many Clintonians are there.

I love how for eight years we heard nothing but “Bush is cocky” and “Bush doesn’t hear opposing viewpoints,” but now it’s just fine to have a community organizer and the folks who were in office when the Cole attack occurred and 9/11 was being planned deciding military policy that starts with the question, “What is best for the prisoners who attacked our people?”
