...The movie's difficulty is that from Nixon's furtive glance after giving the victory sign as he boarded the helicopter on the day of his resignation to the vignette about the Gucci loafers, its most dramatic moments bear little resemblance to what actually happened during the interviews themselves. How can we know this for sure? For those caring to look, there are three primary sourcesall prepared by Frost or one of his researchers.
First, a DVD exists of the actual broadcasts, issued in Great Britain with an afterword by Sir David Frost. While readily available, apparently none of the movie's reviewers saw fit to view the actual broadcast, since they show that time and again the movie version alters, omits or improperly edits what was actually said by Nixon and by Frost...

From the trailers I’ve seen.....it sounds and looks like a skit from SNL.
Anyone interested in the reality need only find the tapes of the actual thing — and not be burdened with the Hollywood propaganda
I know this sounds way too intelligent, but I will not see this deceptive, lying piece of poo. Hope it crashes financially. No more Ron Howard and his lying, brainwashed ilk.
My older brother has seen the actual Frost/Nixon interviews and he pretty much agrees that the movie is far removed from what actually took place.
Maybe not as far removed from reality as JFK (or Dances with Wolves, LOL), but still pretty darn bad.
Without exception.
I can enjoy a movie if it’s good even if inaccurate but I can tell you those interviews were interesting but not earth shattering or exceptionally dramatic.
Nixon was a great president, sad that he had his flaws and of course republicans did the right thing and abandoned him once it was clear he committed a crime. Democrats of course have no such scruples.
So far it's done $18 million in worldwide box office on a $25 million budget. Awards season might give it some legs, and it might do okay on DVD, but probably not enough to make it a hit. So at least there's little danger of Frost/NIxon 2: The Wrath of Nixon.
Although I would pay to see Nixon vs. Predator.
Pretty close. They made him out to be nothing more than a money hungry bastard. Had to stop watching after 40 minutes.
Hollywood’s anti-Bush movies all bombed so they had to go back to picking on Nixon. According to Wikipedia, this bombed as well:
Budget $25,000,000
Gross revenue $15,047,012 (world-wide)
Yes, an extremely slanted version, from all I’ve read. Just play the original interviews!
But the froo froo of Hollywood like to see a drunken Richard Nixon calling up Frost late at night to make “off the record” comments.
Doesn’t matter if they are fake but accurate.
My ultra-lib professor friend loved it.
‘Nuff said.
and they have been flogging this nixon-frost movie on Fox for MONTHS, i have NEVER seen a movie promoted for such a LONG time. give it up already! seems like it should be out on video by now they have been promoting it so long. pretty heavily invested in that agenda, i would say.

Cost to produce = $25,000,000.
Cost to market = $25,000,000.
Total cost = $50,000,000.
Revenue needed to break even = $125,000,000.
Revenue to date = $8,500,000.
Huge financial disaster.
I watched it (rarely go to the movies but made an exception here).
- The portrayal of the Frost character (same guy who played Tony Blair in “Queen”) was interesting and made me understand Frost more than I did. Can’t say how accurate it was but it seemed believable that Frost was more or less like the movie showed him to be.
- The portrayal of Nixon flat out sucked. Didn’t look a thing like him, act at all like him, and it well - sucked.
- The James Reston Jr. character was probably an accurate portrayal and if so this guy is your typical liberal ahole. His whole agenda was “get Nixon” - Full Stop. It’s like the left prides itself on it’s “nuance” (a la kerry et. al.) but these idiots are 6th grade level on a good day.
- As always I love to see the costumes and the sets. I think they captured “Late 70’s” pretty well.
“Frost Nixon”; available at Circuit City in the DVD bargain bin.
Yeah, I wouldn’t waste my money!
