I’m thinking Michelle Malkin has the right idea at her site and HotAir where they open up a short window from time-to-time to register new people, but mostly it is closed registration. Knowing Obama has his blackberry hit list of 13 million trolls gives me more than a little concern.

I really don’t think who is chairman will make a bit of difference. The RNC is disconnected from the rank-and-file.
This guy is is “nails.” He has been put through the “fire” and he really will be tremendous in front of a fawning Obama media that will try to throw fiery arrows his way.

So I wonder how Steele feels about the entire GOP in the house voting to obstruct Obama's "stimulus" bill?
I wonder which of the groups currently against "us" he will be reaching out to more- The extremely leftist NAACP and Log Cabin Republicans? (both of which he praises in interviews) He said, in a discussion of California's Prop 8 on WBAL radio in Baltimore, that he wanted the GOP to stop being just against things and try to be more "inclusive". People speak about "code words" in politics all the time. Sadly it appears many are missing the ones Steele uses.

Steele's support of the rino Wayne Gilcrest in Marylands 1st congressional district against the conservative Andrew Harris is something many need to learn about. Our former Republican governor (who Steele was Lt. Gov to) Bob Ehrlich, supported Harris as did almost every Republican state senator in Maryland. Gilcrest, who Steele supported, lost in the primary to the conservative Harris and then when the general election came the rino Gilcrest threw his support behind the Democrat. Some may be buying into the idea that McCain lost because he was too "conservative". Tonight, they and the Christine Todd Whitmans of the world are very happy. But hey, don't trust a wingnut, look into Steele's record for yourself. Do what you told others to do about Obama and look past the slick interviews and speeches and look at his record.

Wow...simply amazing. “We have to draw the line...on constitutionality” while not entirely banning the shotguns that skeet shooters own.
He’s lost my support entirely, and I’m sure the probable support of many millions of gun owners in America who believe the 2nd Amendment gives them the right to own semi-auto weapons, not just “shotguns used by skeet shooters.”

Well, he lost me on guns: he wants to ban them if they’re not shotguns, and now it turns out he wants to keep Roe v Wade.
Those are my two hot-button issues...he 2nd Amendment and Life.
I won’t donate any money to the GOP or volunteer for them as long as he runs it.

No, I'm not happy with the election of Mr. Steele.
In his 2006 Senatorial campaign, Mr. Steele said this on Meet the Press:
Meet The Press on October 29, 2006.
MR. RUSSERT: ...Mr. Steele, if you’re United States Senator, would you vote for a constitutional amendment to outlaw abortion?
LT. GOV. STEELE: I don’t — vote for a constitutional amendment to outlaw abortion? I think we’d have to have that get to the Supreme Court, wouldn’t we? I haven’t seen that bill proposed. I don’t think...
MR. RUSSERT: That’s been introduced in the Senate.
LT. GOV. STEELE: I don’t think anyone’s going to propose that this day.
MR. RUSSERT: So you wouldn’t do that?
LT. GOV. STEELE: No.
MR. RUSSERT: Would, would you encourage — would you hope the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe vs. Wade?
LT. GOV. STEELE: I think that that’s a matter that’s going to rightly belong to the courts [emphasis added] to decide ultimately whether or not that, that issue should be addressed. The, the Court has taken a position, which I agree, stare decisis, which means that the law is as it is and, and so this is a matter that’s ultimately going to be adjudicated at the states. We’re seeing that. The states are beginning to decide for themselves on, on this and a host of other issues. And the Supreme Court would ultimately decide that.
MR. RUSSERT: But you hope that the Court keeps Roe v. Wade in place?
LT. GOV. STEELE: I think the Court will evaluate the law as society progresses, as the Court is supposed to do.
MR. RUSSERT: But what’s your position? Do you want them to sustain it or overturn it?
LT. GOV. STEELE: Well, I think, I think, I think Roe vs. Wade, Roe vs. Wade is a, is a matter that should’ve been left to the states to decide, ultimately. But it, it is where it is today, and the courts will ultimately decide whether or not this, this gets addressed by the states, goes back to the states in some form or they overturn it outright.
MR. RUSSERT: Is is your desire to keep it in place?
LT. GOV. STEELE: My desire is that we follow what stare decisis is at this point, yes.
I'm willing to say that this is a muddled attempt at straddling the fence. I'm willing to say that he was trimming his sails against a Democrat opponent in an overwhelmingly Democrat state. I'm even willing to give him a mulligan, and if he “clarifies” his position back to a more uniformly pro-life position, I'm willing to forget it.
But what he said isn't pro-life.
And unless he appropriately clarifies, I can't support him, and will likely quit the Republican Party.

How about this? Why don’t you give Steele 30 days? Watch what he says on the TV shows and in the emails? I bet if you changed the name you’d be happy with the message. Surely you can give him 30 days with elections over 1-1/2 years out.
