GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) -- More than 5,000 Hamas supporters rallied in Gaza on Friday, as a leader of the Islamic militant group emerged from hiding to declare victory in the 23-day Israeli offensive that devastated much of the Palestinian territory.
Hamas lawmaker Khalil al-Hayeh appeared in public for the first time since the war's start on Dec. 27 and remained defiant despite Hamas' heavy losses.
"We thank God when we see our houses bombed and our institutions destroyed, but our people say yes to the resistance and yes to martyrdom for the sake of God," al-Hayeh said, standing in front of the damaged Palestinian parliament building. "We say proudly that Gaza has won the war, the resistance has won the war, and Hamas has won the war."
Israeli launched its offensive to stop eight years of near-daily militant rocket fire from Gaza at southern Israeli towns. Nearly 1,300 Palestinians were killed in the fighting, about half of them civilians, according to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights. Thirteen Israelis were also killed, three of them civilians.
The aerial and ground offensive ended with a tentative cease-fire on Jan. 18. Hamas has since resumed its rocket fire toward Israel.

ROTFLMBO
Sounds like a target for a 5,000 lb bomb...
Now's the perfect time to rain a few Hellfire missiles on his "victory" parade.
Hooray!!!! I hope these A$$holes have many more victories just like this one.
As much as I hate to agree with Hamas.... if they are really given $1 billion from the Saudis, and another billion each from the gulf states and Europe to “rebuild” it may really be a victory for them - with $3 billion dollars if they skim even a quarter of that they could be armed for the next decade - and what do they care how many of their civilian shields die?
From Obama whitehouse: “Congratulations - and here’s 20 mill!”
1. Great idea.
2. This is good news, since the crowd estimate is a rather small number of supporters for these terrorists. It looks like Israel accomplished something.
3. Given "Hamas has since resumed its rocket fire toward Israel", it looks like it's time for Israel to attack another "UN school" or "baby milk factory", along with the "humanitarian" tunnels that are under repair so they can continue smuggling "defensive rockets". Hamas needs another victory like the one they're celebrating.

Target rich Environment
OMG how do you deal with these nutbags?
“devastated much of the Palestinian territory”
I have seen devastation. “MUCH” of the Gaza area was NOT the scene of “devastation.”
All things considered, there Israelis were fairly precise.
“there” = the
oops

Pretty good trade off.
If the US came out of the Deprecession by buying bombers and ammo, we should double down on the war on Jihad and stock up to take out Iran, SA, Indonesia, Somalia, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Pakistan and the suburbs of France, Great Britain, Sweden and Detroit.
Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.
Deprecession —> Depression.
“Sounds like a target for a 5,000 lb bomb...”
From your mouth to God’s ears.
“Hamas official declare victory in Gaza rallies”
Back in the old days, like the 1980s, if someone produced a headline like that without putting quotes around the word “victory”, they would have been laughed out of a job. No one would have accepted it as printworthy. The bias is so clear, so obvious, so blatant, that AP would have been a laughing stock, and would have been barred from several outlets within 24 hours.
