ROLAND A manufacturing facility in Roland will be shut down in the next few months, leaving 220 people without jobs in this small Sequoyah County community.
Ohio-based Therma-Tru Corp., which designs and produces residential fiberglass and steel exterior door systems, announced Thursday it would phase down production and ultimately close the Roland plant, effective Sept. 30.
The majority of workers will be out of a job by the end of March, and most production will end by the end of June.
A core team of workers will remain in Roland to prepare the building for closing and its ultimate sale or lease.

2,500 lost jobs here. 5 plant closing within 18 months and all moved to China (textile). Now 2500 are fighting for menial jobs at McDonalds. Since this was a town built around the textile mills, I expect it to be a ghost town soon. Or I would if it weren’t so bad everywhere else.
What state is that?
Change!
Yep, that’s for sure...
I’m just posting these for “one little state”... Can you imagine what’s going on in all the other states?
Thanks for the reference...
Perhaps other Freepers should start tracking the layoffs and plant closings in their states, too and posting the results here...
Tag them with the state name and put either “layoffs” or “plant closing” in brackets. That way it would be easy for people to track it over time.

Well, people will need all the resources available, for sure..., but I’m doubtful that all these people who are laid off are ever going to find good replacements for where they were before. They will be lucky to find an opening at McDonald’s (which they may have to take...).
