'Climate change' moralists are always talking about the need to take responsibility/set an example in the face of the imminent planetary apocalypse. Imagine my surprise, therefore, when I read this (in the New York Times):
WASHINGTON — The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat. “He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.
That's classified.
The problem isn't whether or not he wears a coat indoors, or whether or not he turns up the thermostat. If it was me, I'd turn up the heat and take off my coat.
The problem is the hypocrisy, the endless passing judgement on people for living their lives as they wish, when you yourself also want to be able to live your life as you wish.
I don't care if Gore has an enormous palace, and pays $2500 a month for electricity, good for him. I don't care if the Dem elite want to fly private jets every where they go, again, good for them. Its their money, they should spend it as they wish. I care, though, when these same people want to hector the rest of us about our electric bills, and preach to the rest of us about what we drive.
Biggest difference between a conservative and a Dem? The conservative wants the freedom to make his own choices, and he's willing to grant you the same respect. He expects to pay the cost of his own choices, and he expects you to do the same. The Dem wants the freedom to make his own choices, and he wants power over you. And he wants you to pay for it coming and going.
The Dems have learned that the easiest way to manipulate people is by manipulating their guilt. Thats mostly what all this is about. If you can make someone feel guilty about every breath they take, every morsel of food they eat, every watt they consume, every moment of every day brings that nagging feeling that this planet is dying because of something they are doing, you can then offer yourself as absolution. Thats the game.
Well, he does know how to deal with it: Turn up the heat. (now we need to do likewise)
The blood of an apartment dweller. Someone else is paying for the heat.
Quiet, peasant. Don't question your betters.
Let's hope that it requires wearing trousers!
Spot on. Well said.
Turn the heat up when you want someone to stay..turn the heat down when you want them to leave..shortly. Those from the South won't take the cold..those from the North won't like the heat, but will adapt more to either.
George Bush NEVER took his jacket off in the oval office. He
had more respect for this place and office than Hussein ever could have!
“Hypocrite” is right where the Zero is concerned!
As Glenn “InstaPundit” Reynolds says,
I’ll start acting like it’s a crisis, once the people who SAY it’s a crisis, start acting like it’s a crisis.
LOL. Nothing like a leader that demands one standard of the people, but indulges in another for himself and his cronies.
It’s good to be the King.
And Indonesia.
I thought he was from Chicago and DC folks are just a bunch of wimps for not going to school on an icy day.
He sure thought it was logical when he went bowling with his coat and tie.
What a bastard.
I am passing this around in my email, the MSM will never call him on it like they would a Republican.
