Yours is an interesting take. I've certainly said similar things to friends who go to Kumbiyah Circle meetings with the Arabs. And it's even true in our own American Politics. (Ann Coulter wrote a book about this!)

Sixty-five years ago, my Polish grandfather would have said the same thing about Germans. The difference was that we utterly defeated Germany in WWII, and that is what took away the German threat. The Palis need to go through the same transformative process.
I agree. The IDF soldier is correct in his factual knowledge, but is naive when it comes to motivation. The Religion of Peace cannot suffer to live alongside the Infidel. They are duty bound to convert or annihilate all that is non-Muslim.
Of course the Arabs know that they would be economically better off if they elected to live in peace with their Israeli neighbors, but that they cannot abide.
If they need to wipe out the majority of the world’s population to accomplish the global Caliphate, that is what they will do.
Then they will happily proceed to kill each other.
