WASHINGTON: As President Obama spreads his New Testament balm over the capital, Im longing for a bit of Old Testament wrath.
Couldnt he throw down his BlackBerry tablet and smash it in anger over the feckless financiers, the gods of gold and their idols in this case not a gilt calf but an $87,000 area rug, a cache of diamond Tiffany and Cartier watches and a French-made luxury corporate jet?
Now that were nationalizing, couldnt we fire any obtuse bankers and auto executives who cling to perks and bonuses even as the economy is following John Thain down his antique commode?
(snip)
The former masters of the universe dont seem to fully comprehend that their universe has crumbled and, thanks to them, so has ours. Real people are losing real jobs at Caterpillar, Home Depot and Sprint Nextel; these and other companies announced on Monday that they would cut more than 75,000 jobs in the U.S. and around the world, as consumer confidence and home prices swan-dived.
(snip)
How are these ruthless, careless ghouls who murdered the economy still walking around (not to mention that sociopathic sadist Bernie Madoff?) and not as perps?
Bring on the shackles. Let the show trials begin.

I like that rule!
What, did the Slimes freeze her salary and cut her expense account?
“Bring on the shackles. Let the show trials begin.”
I thought this was going to be an article about Pinch. Dowd is the kind who would get a kick out of putting Pinch in shackles.
But seriously, I would favor sharpening up the guilotines and giving some of the socialists in Washington what they deserve.
The Lollipop is what makes this picture great.
She looks like she wandered off the set of Zardoz.
This is very telling if you parse the words. Barry is, himself, the golden calf. The same interior decorator used by a Wall Street CEO to redecorate his opulent office is the same one Barry is using to redecorate the White House. Who's pork is she slaying? The next "Air Force One" will more than likely be a French-made (Airbus) luxury corporate jet. The irony is rich!
I’ve rarely read less-intelligent prose than that expressed here (well, except in Dowd’s other 213 predictibly pompous columns over the last decade.)
By all means. Let us begin with Chris Dodd and Barney Frank.

Oooooo. THAT is naughty......
So you can see why MoDo is upset. She can blow $100 at the bar before she even sits down for dinner...
“Dowd is at her bitchy worst today”
Pinch probably just told her that she has to give the Mexican who bailed the NYT out a BJ.
Yummmmmmmmmmmm.
You're joking, right?
Her target is pretty clear to me. Just as liberals always have, she hates The Man. Any wealthy, white, male executive is to be hated.
Just look at this snippet:
...couldnt we fire any obtuse bankers and auto executives who cling to perks and bonuses even as the economy is following John Thain down his antique commode?
Has Ms. Dowd offered up her income as a caring token of empathy for the downtrodden workers? Of course not. But, by golly, bankers and auto execs who dare to accept their pay should be fired and then publicly flogged for good measure! ...even though they're even less to blame for this socialist power play than she is.
Let there be no doubt: This economic crisis was engineered specifically for a government takeover of a staggering chunk of the US economy. When it is complete, a strong, centralized federal government will effectively control the banking and the auto industries in this country.
Let that fact sink in for a bit and then decide who Ms. Dowd should aim her bitter pen toward.
I’m afraid I don’t get the connection, but I’m good with that.
Maureed Dowd used to date Michael Douglas, and Douglas is married to Catherine Zeta Jones. Hence the connection.
Wait, that's the danger isn't it...
