MIAMI -- The lawyers for over 600 American born children filed a lawsuit against President Obama to suspend the deportation of their undocumented parents until there is immigration law reform.
Nora Sandigo, of Nicaraguan origin, is CEO of American Fraternity, a pro immigrant organization based in Miami, filed the lawsuit before the U.S. Supreme Court.
"Children continue to suffer by being separated from their parents because of deportations that the President may be able to suspend." Sandigo asserted. She also explained that filing this law suit is not because she or these children are against him, but to use his authority and urge him to issue an executive order to stop the deportations, and adopt new immigration laws.
they don’t want to lose the anchor.
More Freepers should read up on that 1866 debate. It might clarify a lot of things for them.
Also, SCOTUS has never, as far as I can tell, ruled that so-called “anchor babies” are in fact U.S. citizens.
Ex post facto in the constitutional sense refers to prosecution for a crime. The law you are calling for doesn’t criminalize anything, it just clarifies a legal question that really needs clarifying.
I believe they heard a case in the early 50s pertaining to a member of another nations military, not an Ambassador or in the foreign service, in the US for training. Citizenship denied, since they weren’t subject to the jurisdiction of the US. Neither are illegals.
Should have added that as I understand it for an individual to be under the jurisdiction of the United States you must be under it’s jurisdiction irrespective of location, as is a citizen or legal immigrants. An illegal is only under US jurisdiction while in this country.
Absolutely right on! This law should have been put in place 30 years ago, at the start of this illegal baby citizen scheme. Where was our Congress on this problem when it first started?
If they can sue the POTUS, then why can’t LEGAL American’s sue to see his d@#n birth certificate?!!??!??!??!??!
Exactly
