Congressman Phil Gingrey, MD (R-GA) made the following statement in response to an article that ran in Politico Newspaper about comments he made regarding conservative commentator, Rush Limbaugh and the Republican Leadership:
Because of the high volume of phone calls and correspondence received by my office since the Politico article ran, I wanted to take a moment to speak directly to grassroots conservatives. Let me assure you, I am one of you. I believe I was sent to Washington to fight for and defend our traditional values of smaller government, lower taxes, a strong national defense, and the lives of the unborn. In my six years in Washington, I have led the charge on many of these issues. In fact, in 2008 The National Journal ranked me the #1 most conservative Member of the House of Representatives. As long as I am in the Congress, I will continue to fight for and defend our sacred values. I have actively opposed every bailout, every rebate check, every so called stimulus. And on so many of these things, I see eye-to-eye with Rush Limbaugh. Regardless of what yesterdays headline may have read, I never told Rush to back off. I regret and apologize for the fact that my comments have offended and upset my fellow conservativesthat was not my intent. I am also sorry to see that my comments in defense of our Republican Leadership read much harsher than they actually were intended, but I recognize it is my responsibility to clarify my own comments.
Now more than ever, we need to articulate a clear conservative message that distinguishes our values and our approach from those of liberal Democrats who are seeking to move our nation in the wrong direction. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Newt Gingrich, and other conservative giants are the voices of the conservative movements conscience. Everyday, millions and millions of Americansmyself includedturn on their radios and televisions to listen to what they have to say, and we are inspired by their words and by their determination. At the end of the day, every member of the conservative movement, from our political commentators and thinkers to our elected officials, share an important and common purpose in advancing the cause of liberty, reigning in a bloated federal government, and defending our traditional family values.
We’ll know a lot more about this Congress after the stimulus bill vote tomorrow.
I agree. (shakes head) Rush and the others are living well because their customers threw their money at them. Congress is “living well” because they used their power to take.
Well, your defense of the "Republican Leadership" is still an issue with me, Congressman, as they are behaving like scared schoolboys handing their lunchmoney to the school bully instead of standing up to him and fighting. When the leadership either grows a pair, or they all resign and we get some real FIGHTERS in there, expect a lot more slaps from the grass-roots. theDentist
Who is Edwards?
Yeah, I’m with you there, but I just do not trust Politico...at all.
This is why I am changing my 16 year party affiliation from Republican to Independent. I can no longer support a party where a “supposed conservative” takes a shot at the only guy with the stones to tell it like it is!!! I’m done with these cowards!!!!!
Gingry is an unknown, Rush is not only a known, but a proven asset.
Rush was 100% correct about McCain and the leadership wants to keep doing the McCain chicken dance.
Gingry better grow a pair fast or he will go the way of custer’s ego.
“Good thing hes a FORMER Congressman”
Do you mean Gingrey? He’s a member of the 111th Congress.
Ah, but they are already in a no win situation, no? They should have listened when they had power, instead they placated the left too much.
So they might as well pee in Bambi’s cornflakes.
It has been evident for some time that Politico is just another leftist toilet filled with rat turds.
**He continually puts them in no-win positions.**
WRONG!!!THEY put themselves in the “NOWIN” position.
Rush just POints it OUT to US!!!!!!!!!!!
NOt Gingrey .. EDWARDS of OK .was on INgrahams show.
I largely agree.
But Rush egged them into doing the “government shutdown” without properly assessing the peril of so doing.
**But Rush egged them into doing the government shutdown without properly assessing the peril of so doing.**
BACK THEN, Rush Underestimated the MOTHER****ING SCUM FACTOR of the LIBERALS. Personally, they should have LEFT IT SHUT DOWN.. would have been BETTER FOR ALL AMERICANS. Only ones that would have been hurt are LIBERALS and their WELFARE MINIONS.
As I said, truly a “no-win” situation.
Yes, Rush underestimated.
So did the GOP.
But only elected officials, not Rush, paid for the blunder.
**But only elected officials, not Rush, paid for the blunder.**
THEY PAID, Because after that is when the GOP Went LINGUINI SPINED and started Kissing the LIBS BUTT. Said action is what eventually brought us the MARXIST TAKEOVER in ‘06, and a MULLAH for PRES in ‘08
LLORT
RUSH JUST SAID, that this guy would be on shortly after the half hour break coming up.
