Congressman Phil Gingrey, MD (R-GA) made the following statement in response to an article that ran in Politico Newspaper about comments he made regarding conservative commentator, Rush Limbaugh and the Republican Leadership:
Because of the high volume of phone calls and correspondence received by my office since the Politico article ran, I wanted to take a moment to speak directly to grassroots conservatives. Let me assure you, I am one of you. I believe I was sent to Washington to fight for and defend our traditional values of smaller government, lower taxes, a strong national defense, and the lives of the unborn. In my six years in Washington, I have led the charge on many of these issues. In fact, in 2008 The National Journal ranked me the #1 most conservative Member of the House of Representatives. As long as I am in the Congress, I will continue to fight for and defend our sacred values. I have actively opposed every bailout, every rebate check, every so called stimulus. And on so many of these things, I see eye-to-eye with Rush Limbaugh. Regardless of what yesterdays headline may have read, I never told Rush to back off. I regret and apologize for the fact that my comments have offended and upset my fellow conservativesthat was not my intent. I am also sorry to see that my comments in defense of our Republican Leadership read much harsher than they actually were intended, but I recognize it is my responsibility to clarify my own comments.
Now more than ever, we need to articulate a clear conservative message that distinguishes our values and our approach from those of liberal Democrats who are seeking to move our nation in the wrong direction. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Newt Gingrich, and other conservative giants are the voices of the conservative movements conscience. Everyday, millions and millions of Americansmyself includedturn on their radios and televisions to listen to what they have to say, and we are inspired by their words and by their determination. At the end of the day, every member of the conservative movement, from our political commentators and thinkers to our elected officials, share an important and common purpose in advancing the cause of liberty, reigning in a bloated federal government, and defending our traditional family values.
He sounded NON-COMMITTAL on the possibility of the Fairness Doc when Neil just cornered him at the end.
??What??
Republicans in office respond more to the MSM pressure than to Rush pressure.
For good reason.
The MSM have more political power than Rush, unfortunately.
And this is what needs to change.
Michael Corleone: “No, Tom, just my enemies.”
>> I wanted to take a moment to speak directly to grassroots conservatives.
i.e., the ‘nativists’.
ooga, ooga
OTOH and probably more likely: Politico is just another leftist toilet posing as an unbiased news organization. They're no different than the alphabet networks. I consider their "news product" to be DNC talking points until proven otherwise.
I’ve seen him on C-SPAN with his speeches. He’s been right on the mark. This man is no RINO.
John McCain may also back the Hush Rush bill. He made such noises during the campaign.
Even GWBush did not like the calls generated by Talk Radio on the Harriet Myers nomination, the Ramos and Compean case, illegal immigration, the Dubai ports deal...
Sit down, shut up, and keep writing checks to the national party. That’s what the GOP thinks of us.
Yeah, I want to hear the phone call to Rush, played by Rush on his show.
Then I want to hear one from º doing the same.
someone must have made him an offer he couldn't refuse...
Ah, who put arsenic in your coffee this morning?
Saying that they are just like the rest of us doesn't impress me very much. I personally believe that that the Rush Limbaugh Sean Hannity Neil Boortz' of the radio waves understand me better than the Washingtonians. Maybe they should listen to the radio and their constituents more.
I can understand why elected officials are ticked-off at Rush.
He continually puts them in “no-win” positions.
Honestly....I’d be happy if they’d just do more to STOP the liberal agenda from moving through. They seem to fall all over themselves trying to be friends with the libs in Washington...even with the conservatives are in power! Makes me sick.
I did November 4th.
Obviously I needed a stronger dose.
What a backpeddling SOB
**Then I want to hear one from º doing the same.**
I PRAY TO GOD you’re not Holding your Breath on that one!!
Did he say this or not?
Class warfare from a conservative. Sheesh
What Politico did was get the wrong guy.
At first they were blasting Rep. Tom Price.
Later they made the correction. See this thread - over 200 replies.

Yet - for some reason - the FR mods chose to leave the article WRONG.
They have the power to edit the post. But they didn’t.
**You know youre just on these talk shows and youre living well and plus you stir up a bit of controversy and gin the base and that sort of that thing.
Did he say this or not?**
That is what he said.. The he ALSO used the term “KING GEORGE” with war, FISA, Illegal Wiretapping (weren’t those recently ok’d by SCOTUS? Thought I heard something on that).
Good thing he’s a FORMER Congressman.. he DRANK the KOOLAID.
