Republicans join the cult of Barack Obama
The Telegraph ^ | 1/27/2009 | Tony Harden

Here's what Republican leaders are up against. Right now, Barack Obama is a global marketing phenomenon, a brand much cooler than the iPhone. Catch a taxi in DC, the receipt will advertise a DVD on the new prez "the man and his journey". Turn a corner and someone will shove a card in your hand trumpeting a "Classic and Limited Edition Bronze Bust" of Obama "masterfully crafted by renowned artist".

When Dee Dee Myers asks whether Obama "is the Most Famous Living Person Ever", it's one of those questions that doesn't really need an answer. You can scoff but who else with a pulse, at a particular moment in time, has been a more as ubiquitous an icon?

Obama himself was well aware how his persona could far transcend him, though I wonder if he even dreamed he could become. His adviser David Axelrod has just recalled how, early in the campaign, Obama said: "I think the American people are ready for Barack Obama. I just hope I can be Barack Obama, or at least the Barack Obama that they want and expect."

All of which is why "nearly as many House Republicans sought to get their photos taken with Obama as questioned him about the stimulus during their meeting" today, according to one GOP aide talking to Time's Jay Newton-Small. You just know that all their kids will be squealing with joy at their parent being snapped with him.

So you can see why Republican leaders are uttering barely a word of criticism about Obama at the moment. Taking Rich Galen's advice, they're concentrating their fire on the considerably less popular Democratic leaders on the Hill, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi - arguing that it is congressional Democrats, not Republicans, who are frustrating the President's vision of bipartisanship.

We need to pay closer attention to ridding the party of RINOs...if we're going to go down, it needs to be with a fight.

"0’s crash will be dramatic."

It has already started. It started before he took office when his obnoxious "Office of The Fuhrer Elect," with official seal, no less, began issuing Proclamations.

So thus is our mission in the 2010 primaries - oust the RINOs.

Who is this kook author. There have been many very well known people that turned out to be less than desirable. As a commenter on the article thread remarked. Michael Jackson. Now there’s a sterling example of what is wrong.

The RINOS that go with Obama will be out of office.

ANY republican kissing Premier Saddam Hussein Obama’s ass needs to be TARGET #1 on their state's hit list for the next election in which their name comes up. I know this, my stupid republican congressman, Mike Rogers of Alabama, got way fewer votes this last time than he did the past election. Ole Mike keeps it up and ole Mike will be back to lawyering his butt too work every day. He was all for the first bail out and voted for the second one. I burned his butt with several emails. His campaign manager answered them, and I burned his butt also. I told him I would work for anyone who would take the butt wipe on in the next republican primary. That Ole Mike either shaped up or got shipped out. I am sick of these stinking republicans running as conservatives here in the south, only to run to the center and left once they hit the ground in Sodom on the Potomac.

I'm so happy I live in a conservative enclave. I've been reassured by my rep, Sensenbrenner, and my state rep and sen that they are on the same page as us. Check these guys:

His latest email:

January 14, 2009

Rep. LeMahieu met with 33 students from Kewaskum High School Government & Law Class at the State Capitol on January 7, 2009

Dear Constituent of the 59th: Last week when the legislature was sworn in I began my fourth term in the State Assembly. Each term has offered challenges and opportunities to serve my constituents in the 59th Assembly District.

Undoubtedly the biggest challenge this term will be the state budget deficit and the ongoing economic problems we face as a state and a nation. We can debate for days how we put ourselves in this hole but the important question to answer is how we get out of this hole.

The federal government is intent on using immense spending increases as a solution telling us that government jobs will solve our problems. I think we need to do just the opposite, take less money from the private sector and let that private sector create the jobs themselves. We need to let taxpayers keep more of their money. They can do a better job of spending that money than the government.

Wisconsin needs to do the same thing. Spend less, tax less. Some of the solutions coming from the legislative leadership (Democratic) include tax increases like the gas tax (automatic indexing), tax on sick people (hospital tax), cigarette tax, alcohol tax, increasing the sales tax.

We need to hear more discussions about what services we don’t need to provide during tough times. We don’t need state agencies asking for 10% increases in their budgets like some of them asked for. The process is doomed to fail if the cuts we start making are on agency budgets that have a 10% increase built in.

Last year campaigns from both Republicans and Democrats claimed they wouldn’t raise taxes; it just wasn’t the right thing to do in a down economy. The Democrats won the majority in both state houses. Now it is time to see if they will keep their promises.

Whether bailouts come from the state or the federal government the money comes from the same place, the pockets of the taxpayers. When families are facing layoffs, reduced hours and an uncertain future we don’t need a state government that tells them they aren’t paying enough taxes.

As long as I represent the 59th Assembly District I will not vote for a budget or a budget repair bill that increases spending at the expense of tax increases. I will continue to fight for lower taxes and smaller government during weak and strong economies.

Please share this update with your friends and neighbors within the 59th Assembly District and if there is anybody you know who would like to be included please respond to this email with their email address. In addition, you are always welcome to visit my website at www.danlemahieu.com . If you have any additional questions or concerns on this issue, or any other, please do not hesitate to contact my office. I am always happy to respond and be of service to you.

Sincerely,

Daniel LeMahieu

Wisconsin State Representative

That’s what I’m thinking, but watch, it may take a while but there will an issue which creates a flashpoint and the scales will fall off people’s eyes. It’s coming. The hubris of Obama and Democrats are strongly skewing to this.

Thank you kindly. Basically, I see it this way. I did not serve over 20 years in the Army, one tour in Vietnam where I was wounded and spent six months in the hospital, 10 years in Germany with one of those tours on the east-west German border patrolling along it, and all those nights sleeping in the cold, wet and mud, defending my Republic from the communist, to simply drop and kiss their collective Marxist's butts here! Ain't gonna happen. Won't happen. I live and love that one simple saying: “Give me liberty or give me death.” I will not become a prisoner of the Marxists. They'll have to drag me out in a body bag.
