And in retrospect, is there anyone who would argue against the idea that Thompson's role was nothing but a stalking horse FOR McCain? All the potential money that might have gone to true conservative candidates (we're talkin about Tancredo, Hunter, Brownback) was held back in anticipation of what Thompson might or might not do. And when Thompson finally entered the race, it was a classic case of "too little too late" and his "good friend" John McCain was the one and only beneficiary........Coincidence? Sure.

Respectfully, mkjessup, your postings about Rush throughout this thread have served as a disruption. The problem is not between Rush and the conservative base. The bigger problem, as exmpllfied by this Democrat CAMPAIGN petition, is that the Dem's are trying to create/widen a crack between the Republican congressmen/women and their conservative base using Rush as the wedge. You are only helping their cause.

We need to stick together as a united front and beat back these liberals. Rush is one voice that conservatives can relate to across the country since there don't seem to be too many recognizable ones in the Republican party. They are not irrelevant; in fact they are necessary. But they need to use all the big voices at their disposal. Rush is one of those big voices.

I wish you would add something to this discussion on how we maximize our efforts at defeating the liberal mania that is overtaking our country right now. I have a feeling you have much to add.

Which ones do you contend have ignored Rush's message?
Every single elected GOP US Senator and Governor (except Palin). McCain is a democrat who just isn't as radical as the rest of that party.

*DING DING DING*!!!

We have a winner! :)

And it used to be, you take out one of ours, we get one of yours. Witness what happened with John Tower being run out of DC over some dirt about drinking and skirt chasing and Jim Wright immediately paying the penance. Witness Bill Clinton impeached and the immediate outing of Bob Livingston.

Who was taken out on their side after the strongest Republican in Congress, Tom Delay, was forced out by a shrewd and shady political extra-judicial power play? Nobody, that’s who.

Respectfully, mkjessup, your postings about Rush throughout this thread have served as a disruption.

You mean, because I'm not 'on board' with the rest of the Mega Dittos Crowd? Sorry about that. When I think Rush is right, I'll be right there with a 'ditto'. But there is an 'inconvenient truth' out there that needs to be pointed out, and I'm certainly not the first to do so.

The problem is not between Rush and the conservative base.

Oh it most certainly is. Rush failed to press the one and only major issue which could have literally prevented 0bama from even walking into the White House, and that issue is the failure to properly document and prove that 0bama is in fact Constitutionally eligible to serve as POTUS. Rush Limbaugh has the biggest microphone in America, and when Americans needed someone with that kind of broadcast power to trumpet the issue of 0bama's questionable credentials, he was MIA, never said nothin', never did nothin', and that alone creates a MAJOR problem between Rush and the 'conservative base' you speak of.

The bigger problem, as exmpllfied by this Democrat CAMPAIGN petition, is that the Dem's are trying to create/widen a crack between the Republican congressmen/women and their conservative base using Rush as the wedge. You are only helping their cause.

Bullocks. The 'petition' you refer to is nothing but a typical 'Rat gimmick and I submit to you that there is ALREADY a crack between our elected Republican representatives and we conservatives. Rush Limbaugh has been attacked and vilified by 'Rats ever since he went national in August '88. I remember. I was listening. Rush can take care of himself better than any conservative in America.

With a big voice, comes big responsibility. And Rush did us no favors in this past election cycle, and he has done America NO service at all with his uncharacteristic silence regarding 0bama's Constitutional eligibility to serve as POTUS: that is the truth, by all means, refute it if you can.

I wish you would add something to this discussion on how we maximize our efforts at defeating the liberal mania that is overtaking our country right now. I have a feeling you have much to add.

I got news for you Girlene, we as conservatives have about as much a chance of defeating that 'liberal mania' sweeping our former Republic as the Jews did rolling back Kristallnacht in November '38 in Germany.

I'm not running up the white flag, never, no way. But we are going to discover that now that this illegal 0bamunist regime controls all three branches of government, that the odds of somehow stopping them at the ballot box in 2010 or 2012 are, as the saying goes "slim and none", and Slim is out to lunch. We've been gamed by the 'Rats, and betrayed by the RINOs and moderates in what was at once time the Party of Reagan.

That Party is now as dead as our former Constitutional Republic is. Don't believe that?

Ask Chief Justice John Roberts what-the-Hell he was doing conducting an exparte proceeding with Barrack Hussein Obama prior to January 20th while legal challenges were (and presumably are) still on the docket before his Court?

This is on the DNC website - an attack on Eric Cantor. How can we fight this? It has to be addressed and I have no idea how to do it. If the GOP lets this go without responding, the last sentence will become another liberal talking point: (I hate dems)

House Republican Whip Eric Cantor [1], a rising star in the Republican party, has been a prominent voice demanding accountability in how the government doles out hundreds of billions for bank bailouts.

“I think most American taxpayers now are sort of scratching their head,” Cantor told CNN in December, “wondering when all this bailout stuff is going to end. And probably thinking, ‘You know, when is my bailout coming?’”

This Thursday, Cantor cast a high-profile vote opposing release of another $350 billion in bailout funds. Unpublicized until now was a recent development: The Treasury Department used $267 million of taxpayer funds to buy preferred stock in a private banking company that employs Cantor’s wife.

In an hour long post-primary interview on Denver KOA by Mike Rosen, who is a lifetime friend of Tancredo, Tancredo said he never once, not even for a fraction of a second even dreamt of getting the nomination.

He was emphatic on that point, he didn’t want anyone thinking he was a nut who thought he could ever make it. He was in it to influence the illegals issue, which never became an issue.

“Ask yourself this question, “if Rush Limbaugh had spent as much time trying to keep a real Republican conservative alive in the primaries as he did monkeying around with the ‘Rat primaries, would it have helped our hurt the GOP?”

Why do you assume it is Rush’s responsibility to keep a Republican Conservative in alive in the Primaries? Do you not think that sole responsibility should fall to the candidate himself?

How many people would have thought in early 2007 that 0bama actually had a shot at the ‘Rat nomination? He was dismissed by many as a ‘nut’, there is no doubt in my mind that Tancredo would have made a far better President, of course I’m preaching to the choir, I’m sure.

Ironically, the ‘illegals’ issue DID become an issue, if you listened to Bill Richardson describing 0bama as an ‘immigrant’, lol - I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Well in that case, why should anyone support ANY primary candidate then? It is my belief that if Rush was (and in fact did) going to get involved in primary contests, the contests he should have been involved with are the REPUBLICAN primaries, and being a conservative, he could have been promoting the candidacies of conservative GOP candidates, instead of p*ssing about in the 'Rat primaries for the sole purpose of trying to create 'chaos'.

Rush had a God-given opportunity to effect a positive change in the Republican primaries, instead: he wasted that opportunity with the political equivalent of throwing eggs and rolls of toilet paper at the 'Rat primary contests.

And we can all see what that got us.

The problem is not Rush believe me...a lot of blame can be laid at the wacky primary process. Open primaries are a joke. But more to the point....I don’t care what Rush would have done to promote Fred Thompson, the truth is the man just was not in it to win it. He was a dud from the word go, lacked conviction, lacked energy and I really believe he did not want it. There was no other Conservative candidate in the hunt. So to take Rush to the woodshed is just shortsighted in my opinion.

OK, so we drop the whole primary process issue. I still have yet to hear anyone in this thread explain or try to justify why Rush has chosen to remain silent on the 0bama eligibility issue and the failure to confirm or deny whether or not he meets the Constitutional requirements to serve as POTUS.

Rush is the one person who could have made (and still could) a difference concerning the questionable details of 0bama’s birth, but we hear nothing but crickets chirping.
