Hispanic illegal immigrants hit by wave of robberies in US

TAMPA, Florida (AFP) — Thieves are increasingly targeting Hispanic illegal immigrants who are reluctant to report robberies to the police for fear of deportation, US activists and law enforcement agencies say.

The victims of the robberies in Florida and other Southern states are often farm workers paid in cash because they have no bank accounts due to a lack of official identification.

"Many robberies (of illegal immigrant workers) are committed but not reported," said Cheryl Little, executive director for the Florida Immigration Advocacy Center.

"Because many of these workers originally come from countries where the police can't be trusted, they're reluctant to report the robberies," she said.

The precise number of robberies against Hispanic immigrants "will never be known (due to the fear of deportation)," Little told AFP.

But advocate groups and police departments are trying to spread the word that illegal immigrants will not face deportation if they report a crime.

Well I can think of at least one way this can be avoided.

The dateline on this could be 2002.

Yep...deporting illegals would sure cure this problem

The working illegals are being robbed by their own fellow illegals. What American is hanging around some job site, preying on illegals during payday?

Sounds more pandering to the pro-illegal/anti-American lobby.

Well since nothing gets done to them IF they get arrested, turn-a-round is fair play.

“WELCOME TO THE USA”

Too bad vigalantism (of a sort) has to take the place of the actual authorities doing their jobs and DEPORTING THESE CRIMINALS.

The Second Amendment is looking better every day.

Unnamed here are the perps of these crimes, namely, fellow illegal aliens.

There is another ploy at work here, based on experience in our area, and not mentioned in these pity stories.
Police will give illegals a pass on their illegal status if they are victims or witnesses to a crime. Sounds like a good idea in order to get victims and witnesses to report the crimes.

But it also gives immunity to the illegals in most jurisdictions if they are such witnesses or victims. So now there is a push to claim you saw or were victimized by a crime so that you get a free pass on your status. Illegals are catching on real quick to this game, so expect to see these numbers skyrocket.

There’s always “the rest of the story” in these stories.

Ah, so they are not here illegally then, so why are they hiding? I do expect the liberals in Congress to clear this all up. By the time they get finished with the economy they are going to need a whole lot more 'legal' voters.

This is the original meaning of being an “outlaw”: someone who is outside the protection of law enforcement. Usually that’s because it’s a wanted criminal, but not always.

Robberies are just a way a life in Mexico. They are just following their cultural pursuits.

I didn’t go to the link, but did they bother to say that most of the crimes against them is committed by their own...more aliens or amnestied ‘citizens’? That’s one reason they don’t report....you don’t snitch on those that brought you.....and own you.

Wouldn't unwanted criminals (illegal aliens) be pretty much the same as "wanted" ones?

Sure, although the degree (of underlying crime) is less for most illegal aliens than, say, Mafia hitmen. But it’s the same principle: They can’t go to the cops to complain about a criminal offense against them, because their own crimes then would be learned.

In medieval England, it was relatively easily for a wanted criminal to remain a fugitive, so authorities — in addition to continuing efforts to apprehend the crook — would let it be known that he was an “outlaw,” i.e., that HE could be robbed, or killed, without legal repurcussion.: he was an OUT-law. Least, that’s the way I was taught 8)

Pure BS. They are paid in cash so that the employers can avoid paying payroll taxes, workers comp, etc.

Tough. There are cosequences to breaking laws. Best way to deal with this - deport the illegals.
