I guess they also “give” us other freedoms (like speech and the ability to listen to Rush) as opposed to those being the God given self-evident kind.

The Second Amendment gives citizens the right to bear arms.
Simply amazing! Totally clueless.
The Second Amendment gives protects citizens' right to bear arms. There, fixed it.

THE AGENDA • ADDITIONAL ISSUES
Sportsmen
President Obama did not grow up hunting and fishing, but he recognizes the great conservation legacy of America's hunters and anglers and has great respect for the passion that hunters and anglers have for their sports.

Snip...America's hunters and anglers are a key constituency that must take an active role and have a powerful voice in this coalition.

The Third Worlders now in charge will move slowly in taking citizen arms. Gradualism works. Remember there can be a constructive taking as well as an actual seizure.

I wish it was only Barack Mugabe who had contempt for the Constitution, but I believe that the entire American political class has nothing but contempt for it.

Amendment II: Right to bear arms
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

I guess they are going to have to pry my guns from my cold still hands!

Lets try this again.
There is no threat in this post and I am entitled to my thoughts and attitude. It was removed so fast that heads must have been spinning.
Are we no longer allowed to state a point or have an opinion that does not pay proper homage to the emperor Berry?????
Do the words< “From my cold dead hands” ring a bell? I think this could easily become the motto of our next major political power in this country.
The major point of discussion about this power should be will it be a popular uprising or a power within the current political system.
There are millions of vets out there who have spent the last 60 years opposed to socialism. Their ideals have not changed not has their mindset to defeat the socialist cancer on mankind. Each and every one of these vets has already sworn to uphold our constitution and our form of government. The second amendment issue might just be the needed spark to reunite them in this goal.
Our nation is under threat from socialism and it is not nearly as secure as the liberals in the cities think it is.

You hit the nail right on the head, and it also illustrates the difference between "statists" and those who believe in the concept of "liberty."

Statists believe that ones "rights" come from the government. The problem is that those are no longer "rights" when they're bestowed by a government: They're "privileges" which can then be taken away by that very same government. As seen in the Declaration of Independence, rights are granted to us by our creator. The whole concept of the Constitution of the United States was to set up a government with strictly defined powers, and limits on what it could do. The general idea was "if it's not in the Constitution, the federal government isn't allowed to do it." We can easily see this in the opposition to "The Bill of Rights." Those who opposed the BoR stated openly that they feared the inclusion COULD BE interpreted that those specific rights were allowed, but no others. But the majority believed that nobody would ever be so foolish. They've been spinning in their graves for more than a century now...

I have heard from more than one source that none of the big retailers are restocking their ammo products.

Sports Authority and Wal-mart are both going out of the handgun ammo business and probably hunting ammo too.

Nothing has been restocked on the shelves since Nov. 4th as the try to move all their stock from the warehouses. They don’t want to be caught with any stock if laws get changed overnight preventing them from selling it the next day.

The big O won’t have to do much as the retailers are already putting their heads between there legs and voluntarily granting the evil one’s his wishes.

That certainly isn’t enough to make your case on. You can read Freepers say the same thing without meaning what you contend.

Could they and should they change give to recognize? Sure.

But to ascribe the motive you do to them based on this is really thin ice.

I just used the ‘contact’ button to send this:

“On the Whitehouse.gov site, there is an incorrect statement about the 2nd Amendment:

“The Second Amendment gives citizens the right to bear arms.”

“This is incorrect. The right isn’t ‘given’ - it is a natural right of all free people. The 2nd Amendment PROTECTS our right to keep & bear arms. In other words the government may not infringe on it. A fact that this administration probably needs to be reminded of periodically.”

Very sincerely!

The Second Amendment gives citizens the right to bear arms.

Notice how the website makes no mention of the right to keep such arms.

Core differences between liberty in the United States and in Europe is that Europeans believe that citizens surrendered their rights to the body politic in exchange for guaranteed civil rights and rule by the majority. (socialism)

In the United States, citizens have God given rights that are protected from the reach of government. These are retained rights over which the power of government was not delegated. The individual is also protected from the majority through the pronciples of stare decisis - reaching back to preserve the rights of Englishmen that existed in King Richard’s time and the Roman limitation on regulation of behaviors and property use to the protection of general public health and safety from substantial injury.
