Man uses 'Final Exit' as suicide guide

DES MOINES, Iowa, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- An Iowa man who apparently took his own life was found dead with the book and DVD versions of the suicide guide "Final Exit" close to hand.

Des Moines police said Derek Mott, 56, also had a list on his desk of needed items for a suicide device described in the book, The Des Moines Register reported. The cause of death was described as asphyxiation.

Diane Mott discovered her husband's body at about 4 p.m. Thursday, police said. She told the newspaper he had been in great pain because of diabetes.

The book was written by Derek Humphry, who became an advocate of assisted suicide after his wife, suffering from terminal cancer, took her own life in 1975. Humphry is a founder of the Hemlock Society and a past president of the World Federation of Right to Die Societies.

"This book promises them relief. But in a way, it's giving people permission to kill themselves," said Dale Chell, a suicide prevention coordinator with the Iowa Department of Public Health. "The idea that someone is helping someone end their life seems to be against human nature. You should help someone end their agony, rather than end their life."

Yep, most of them are for 24 months suicide. This, of course, is to prevent(or try to prevent)people buying just to make money for their families, mainly their spouse.

The problem with this clause is that almost all drugs are lethal given sufficient doses.

So can water.

There is no force on Earth, nor in hell, that can force me to withdraw palliative care from one of my loved ones, and subject them to murder.

And that's just what the forces of hell would like us to do.

Satan is all about killing. It's been his goal from the moment he tempted Adam and Eve. Then he continued with Cain and Abel.

Notice that murder is the first sin committed after Adam and Eve fell?

He'll disguise it as *choice*. He'll disguise it as compassion and mercy killing. He'll do whatever it takes to make it palatable.

But it's still murder, no matter how you cut it and it's still wrong.

It is so good to be in the company of people who know that. It amazes me that so many people don’t know that.

That’s a good one! I need to teach that to my kids. On second thought, they might try to use it as an excuse to get out of taking showers. Ha!

That’s crazy. Suicides should NEVER get paid. Suicide is fraud. That’s like paying someone to steal your car so you can have the insurance money. Or stealing it yourself.

Except the "fraud" isn't around to spend the money (just the grieving beneficiaries).

Regardless, insurers write and market their policies. Customers are free to buy them or not. Shop around, find a policy that NEVER pays on suicide and perhaps save a few bucks. If you perceive demand exceeds supply, take the opportunity to start your own company and sell the people what they really want.

Just because something is legal, doesn’t make it right.

You moved your goal posts. No way to discuss with someone that changes his words AND does not copy that which he is replying to because it would show that you are moving the goal posts.
